Chapter 707 Eason Arrives
The day was winding down fast.
Ava stared blankly at the sunset.
She'd barely said a word all day, staying silent.
She felt stifled and sad, anxious because she couldn't see Alexander.
But she had no choice; for the baby's sake, she had to endure.
She really wanted to know how he was doing.
"Ava." A voice broke her thoughts.
She turned and saw the man walking into the room. She managed a faint smile, "Eason, you're here."
Eason had messaged her earlier, and when he found out she was in the hospital, he rushed over.
"How are you? You don't look so good."
Eason sat down worriedly beside her bed.
Ava shook her head. "I'm fine. I have surgery tomorrow."
"Don't worry. It'll go well."
"Thanks, Eason, for coming all this way."
"It's not far. Besides, you're in the hospital; I'd come no matter how far."
William walked in and saw Eason, his brow furrowing slightly.
Eason turned and raised a hand in greeting. "Hey."
They'd met before at Ava's apartment complex.
Seeing Eason, William suddenly felt uneasy.
"Who are you?" William asked.
"Haven't we met before?" Eason looked puzzled. "Don't you remember me? Or do you important people often forget things?"
"Eason," Ava said, "William has some memory issues."
"Oh, got it." Eason nodded in realization. "No problem, we can get to know each other again. I'm Eason, a friend of Ava's, though I'd rather be her little brother."
William asked, "How did you know she was here?"
Hearing William's questioning tone, Ava quickly said, "William, Eason and I keep in touch. I told him I was here."
Seeing Ava so protective of Eason, William felt a bit uncomfortable.
But he didn't show it.
He went straight to Ava's bedside. "Ava, what do you want to eat tonight?"
Ava said, "Anything light is fine."
Suddenly, she thought of Eason. "Eason, have you had dinner?"
Eason shook his head. "Not yet."
"Then stay and eat with us. We always say we should, but never get the chance."
"Sure, Ava." Eason smiled, but then felt a cold stare.
He turned and saw William glaring at him. Scratching his head, he changed his mind. "Ava, maybe not tonight. After your surgery, when you're better, we can have a proper meal."
Ava knew Eason felt uneasy with William there.
"Alright then. By the way, Eason, how have you been?"
Eason perked up. "I've been working on a paper about machine learning, hoping to get it published in an international journal."
He said this with a proud smile.
"Wow, that's impressive," Ava praised. "What's the topic?"
Eason said, "It's 'Implementation of Autonomous Driving Systems Based on Deep Learning.'"
