Chapter 519 Comprehensive Check-up
Seeing her wary eyes, Alexander snorted, "Are you afraid I'll pin you down and kiss you here? Then you shouldn't have called me here."
Ava lowered her gaze. "I hope you don't do that here."
"Not here?" Alexander smiled meaningfully, "You mean I can do it somewhere else?"
Ava frowned. "Stop joking, okay? Let's get out of here."
Thinking about what Alexander had done before, she seriously doubted he could do such a thing.
More importantly, she texted him to come here. So, even if something happened, she wouldn't be able to explain it well.
"I have a question for you."
"What question?" Ava asked.
Alexander said, " Both of us are concerned about grandma. She claims she's okay, but we doubt it and want to see her medical report. Now, I'm concerned that your health might be at risk. When was the last time you had a check-up?"
Ava found her emotional landscape intricate. "Before the divorce, didn't you accompany me for an examination? Haven't you known about my condition since then?"
Fortunately, at that time, Amelia helped her, or she would have been exposed.
"At that time, you weren't feeling well. The doctor said you ate something bad and didn't do a thorough check-up. I'm talking about a comprehensive physical examination."
At the mention of a comprehensive physical examination, Ava instinctively felt a bit guilty. "What does it have to do with you? We've already..."
"I understand that we're already divorced," Alexander interjected, "But can't an ex-husband express concern for his ex-wife if she doesn't seem well? Is there a law or moral code that prohibits that?"
Ava tried to stay calm and spoke unhurriedly, "Thank you for your concern. I'm fine. I know my own body better than you do. I care about myself more than you do."
"Really? You don't look fine." Alexander's knuckles gently brushed her face.
Ava instinctively turned her face away.
Alexander's hand hung in the air, and he withdrew it dejectedly. "I know you care about yourself, but you can still overlook things. When you have time, let me take you for a comprehensive physical examination. Listen to me, promise me, okay?"
Alexander's voice was hoarse, his tone exceptionally gentle, with a hint of persuasion. His voice was very pleasant, like a late-night radio host, making her legs go weak.
Ava nervously clenched her fists. "Why should I promise you? Whether I go for a check-up or not is my own business. And even if someone accompanies me, it would be my husband. I don't need my ex-husband to accompany me."
"Can your husband take you now? He's lying in a hospital bed and can't even get up. Or I can go ask for his permission and see if he agrees to let me take you."
"No!" Ava said excitedly, "You can't go find him. Stop bothering him!"
After saying this, Ava's breathing quickened. She was genuinely concerned about William, and it was evident.
It was as if Alexander was going to harm William.
Every time Alexander saw Ava care so much about William, he felt very sad. He smiled helplessly, "Do you think I'd still want to harm him because I didn't succeed last time?"
For a moment, Ava was at a loss for words. She was reluctant to have Alexander and William meet again, as their encounters often resulted in conflicts.
"William is already in this condition. Please don't hurt him."
"Please?" The helplessness in Alexander's smile deepened, "You actually begged me. Do you think I would harm him?"
