Chapter 487 Choking with Sobs
For Ava, the past forty-eight hours were the most excruciating time she had ever experienced. She didn't know the outcome, and all she could do was wait.
Every second felt like torture. Apart from the agony of waiting, what terrified her the most was the possibility of receiving a terrible result.
If the result was destined to be a tragedy, Ava would rather endure the waiting in agony than hear the answer that would leave her in despair.
The surgery on Isabella had concluded as well, her cardiac procedure was highly successful.
Isabella didn't even know who the person was that donated his heart to her, but she was very clear about how that person had died.
All of this happened quietly, with no one knowing the process except for her and Eason.
Ava was unaware that many times Alexander was silently watching her from where she couldn't see, witnessing her anxiety and sadness for William.
Having voluntarily relinquished her, he now found himself skulking in the shadows in such a debased manner. He felt increasingly ludicrous, his life turning into nothing short of a comedy.
In a hotel, Ava was sound asleep, her body unable to bear it any longer. At Vicky's urging, they booked a room at a nearby hotel to rest.
Lost in the abyss of sleep, she was awakened by a voice.
"Ava."
Ava opened her weary eyes and saw Vicky sitting beside her.
Her head was pounding as she sat up from the bed. "Vicky, what's wrong? Is there any new update on William?"
Ava grabbed her hand anxiously, afraid to hear bad news.
"Ava, don't worry. I just received a call from the hospital saying that William has woken up." Vicky said with a smile, very excited.
If it weren't for this news, she wouldn't have woken Ava up.
"Is it true?" Ava couldn't believe it. She was worried she might be dreaming, so she discreetly pinched her palm hard. Feeling the pain, she knew it wasn't a dream.
"Of course, it's true. I wouldn't joke about something like this. Do you want to sleep a bit more before going to see William, or..."
"I'll go now." With such good news, how could she possibly go back to sleep?
Ava and Vicky hurried to the hospital.
When they arrived at William's ward, Ava caught sight of William's parents and Brandon standing outside, their expressions solemn.
Ava quickly approached them. "How is William now?"
Brandon said, "He's awake, but..."
"But what?" Ava asked, "Why are you all standing here?"
Just then, an anxious voice came from the ward. "Ava, where are you?"
Hearing William calling for her, Ava immediately opened the door and walked in. "William, I'm here."
Ava rushed to his bedside and sat on the chair next to him.
"Ava." William's emotions were particularly intense as he held her hand.
"I'm here, William." Ava involuntarily intertwined her fingers with his.
At the sight of Ava, William's tense demeanor relaxed significantly, and he quickly inquired, "Are you alright? Were you injured in any way?"
"I'm fine," Ava said, "I'm all good. William, it's great. I thought I would never be able to talk to you. I'm glad you're awake."
Ava was choking with sobs.
