Chapter 582 Taking Advantage of You
"How do I look?" Isabella took a few steps back, lifting the hem of her wedding dress and twirling in front of him.
Of course, Isabella looked beautiful in the dress. Unfortunately, Alexander clearly wasn't in the mood to appreciate it.
Seeing Alexander's lack of enthusiasm, Isabella asked, "What's wrong, Alex? Don't I look good in this? This is a gift from you, and I finally get to put it on today. We're about to get married; you should be happy."
Alexander had promised her more times than she could count, only to back out every time. This time, Isabella was determined not to let him do that again.
Alexander stared at her silently for a moment before speaking, "Isabella, I remember you once said you really liked music but never had the chance to learn."
Isabella nodded. "Yeah, I really loved music when I was young. But as you know, I wasn't very favored in the Harrington family. If I had chosen to study something expensive like music or the arts, I probably wouldn't even be able to feed myself. So, I had to choose a practical major."
Alexander nodded. "I know. It must have been tough for you. However, you shouldn't give up on your dream. In fact, you should pursue it. Don't worry about the money; I'll cover all the costs."
Isabella was stunned. "Alex, what do you mean? Are you suggesting I go study music now?"
Alexander nodded. "Since you really want to learn, I can support you. I've contacted an excellent music academy abroad. You can go there, and I'll cover all the expenses. You can study there as long as you want. Whether it's further education or any other plans you have, I can help you achieve them."
Isabella was taken aback. She stared at Alexander in shock for a long time before saying, "Why are you asking me to study music? I just came back from abroad, and now you want me to go again?"
Thinking of this, Isabella suddenly laughed. "Are you planning to go with me? If that's the case..."
"No," Alexander interrupted her, "Isabella, you're going alone. This is your dream, and I believe you can achieve it."
The atmosphere suddenly became tense. Isabella looked at him coldly. "Aren't we supposed to get married? Why are you asking me to go abroad to study music now?"
Alexander glanced at her. "Isabella, change out of your wedding dress first. Let's talk."
Isabella looked down at herself. "Why should I change? Can't we talk now? In case you've forgotten, you gave this to me. Why are you so indifferent seeing me wearing this wedding dress? Shouldn't you be happy?"
"Isabella, I..."
"Alex," Isabella interrupted him, "I barely survived. I hope you won't say anything hurtful. If you do, what was the point of me fighting to stay alive? To hear you repeatedly break your promises?"
Isabella could already guess what he was going to say from his attitude, and she wasn't going to give him the chance to say it.
Alexander sighed softly. "Isabella, do you want to hear the truth?"
Isabella clutched her wedding dress tightly. "What truth?"
"No one forced me to marry Ava. I've always wanted to marry her, and I've always liked her, but I thought she didn't love me. We're only this close now because I wanted to show my grandma, and I didn't want Ava to feel aggrieved. But my grandma still arranged for me to marry her. I really wanted to marry her, so I didn't refuse. However, I was afraid she'd be unhappy marrying me, so I deliberately told her it was a marriage of convenience. I thought that way, she wouldn't feel pressured. I've been looking for an excuse to divorce her and give her freedom, and you're that excuse. So, Isabella, the truth is, I have always been taking advantage of you since the beginning."
