Chapter 758 She Looks Like Her
Madison froze, thinking she must've misheard. Her eyes widened in shock.
"What kind of payment are you talking about?" she asked, confused.
Hadn't he asked for her number to contact her?
"You saved me, so I plan to give you some money. You can leave now," Alexander said coldly.
His face was a mask of indifference, no warmth at all.
Sure, he said thank you, but his gratitude came with a wad of cash.
Madison felt utterly disrespected.
Seeing she hadn't left, Alexander glanced at her and asked, "Do you need something else?"
"Mr. Mitchell," Madison said, fighting back tears. She felt hurt but kept her cool.
"I feel like you're insulting me."
Alexander replied, "I'm not insulting you. Maybe I misspoke. This is my thank-you fee, not payment."
He was being honest. He didn't mean to insult her, just wanted to give her some money as thanks.
"Really? Because I feel insulted," Madison scoffed.
She gave a bitter smile. "Do you think I came here for money? Is that how you see everyone? Or do men like you think all women are after money?"
Alexander stayed silent.
Madison stepped forward, grabbed the sticky note with her number, and tore it up, tossing the pieces in the trash.
"I saved your life, and a simple thank you is all I need. I don't want your money. If you think I'm the kind of woman who'd ask for more, then I guess you don't know me very well."
She took a deep breath, trying to calm down.
"I made a mistake coming here. I shouldn't have come to see you. After I got you to the hospital, I should've left. If I hadn't come, I wouldn't have to endure this."
Madison turned to leave.
After a few steps, she stopped and said, "Even though I'm angry, I don't regret saving you. I know what you were about to do when you ran to the window. I don't know what happened, but if you die, you'll have nothing left. Those things you haven't done will always be regrets."
Madison wiped her tears and was about to leave.
"Wait a minute," Alexander called out.
Madison stopped, asking coldly, "Do you need something else?"
Alexander got out of bed and walked over to her.
Alexander stood 6 feet 3 inches tall, while Madison was only 5 feet 3 inches. She looked tiny next to him.
As he approached, Madison's heart raced. She looked up at him, her heart skipping a beat.
Alexander just stared at her silently.
The hospital room light highlighted his handsome features, making it hard to look away.
His attractiveness wasn't just in his looks but in the structure of his face.
Madison was extremely nervous, stammering, "Do you need something else?"
"What's your name?"
Alexander still didn't know the name of his savior.
He stared at Madison's face, struck by how much she resembled Ava, especially around the eyes. Even the way her cheeks flushed with shyness mirrored Ava's.
Especially when she got angry just now, she looked exactly like Ava.
For a moment, he thought she was Ava.
But she wasn't.
