Chapter 65 Tearing the Agreement

Scarcely a few minutes had elapsed when the door was abruptly thrust open, and in strode George.

"Alexander," he announced.Alexander swiveled to face his father, his brow creasing in confusion.

"Dad, to what do I owe this unexpected visit?" he queried, silently questioning Felix's judgment in allowing the intrusion.

"Displeased to see me, are you?" George retorted, a hint of bitterness in his tone. "I suppose it's only logical, given your desire to keep your little mishap a secret. After all, it wouldn't do for word to get out about the esteemed CEO of SK Enterprises foolishly plowing his car into a streetlight."

George had been making relentless attempts to reach Alexander and, upon failing to do so, had embarked on a relentless hunt for his son.

Unfazed by his father's reproach, Alexander responded, "It's not as though I intentionally drove into it."

"I've just reviewed your medical report. You were driving while fatigued, weren't you? What sort of trouble have you landed yourself in this time?" George demanded.

Alexander, unwilling to indulge his father's curiosity, dismissed him curtly. "It's done, I'm fine, and I'd prefer it if you didn't inform grandmother or Ava."

"Ah, so you still have the presence of mind to worry about your grandmother and wife—consider how they would feel if you were to perish. Is this mess somehow related to Isabella?" George inquired, his tone laced with suspicion.

Life had been running smoothly until Isabella's arrival. Since her entrance into their lives, chaos had reigned supreme.

Alexander, growing weary of his father's prying, childishly pulled the blanket over his head in an attempt to shut out the world.

"You…" George, now seething with anger, whipped out his phone and dialed a number. "Alexander, someone needs to bring you to your senses!"

Peeking out from under the blanket, Alexander spotted his father poised to make a call, his expression grave. "Are you planning to inform grandmother? She's your own mother, for heaven's sake!"

"I have no intention of upsetting your grandmother. I'll be informing someone else," George retorted, his tone resolute.

"Are you going to tell Ava?" Alexander's expression darkened further. "Don't you dare!"

Before Alexander could finish his sentence, George's call had already connected. "Hello, Mia…"

Upon hearing the name Mia, Alexander heaved a sigh of relief.

"Mia, don't hang up. I need to speak with you," George implored, urgency creeping into his voice. "Alex was involved in a severe car accident. He's badly injured and bedridden. It's a miracle he survived. You should come to the hospital to see him. I'll text you the address. Just get here as soon as you can," George concluded, swiftly ending the call and sending the location to his wife.

When he turned back to face his son, he was met with a look of disdain. "Dad, I assure you I'm perfectly capable of getting out of bed, and my injuries are far from critical. Did you not read my medical report?"

George approached Alexander, tucking him in with a heavy heart. "When you're hurt, it feels ten times worse to me. Such is the worry of a father."

Alexander's face darkened instantly, a flicker of scorn passing through his eyes. "It almost seems as though you wish I were more seriously injured. You're taking this rather well."

"Enough of your nonsense. When your mother arrives, I suggest you curb that sharp tongue of yours. If you're going to play the part of a car crash victim, at least look the part."

With a resigned sigh, Alexander lamented his father's manipulation of his accident to gain leverage over his mother, all from the confines of his hospital bed.

Suddenly, George's attention was drawn to a document on the bedside table. Picking it up, he unfolded it to reveal the bold words "Divorce Agreement," causing his expression to shift dramatically. His shock was further amplified when he spotted Ava's signature.

Throwing the papers at Alexander, George demanded an explanation. "What is the meaning of this?"

"There's nothing to explain. It's exactly as it appears," Alexander replied nonchalantly.

"Have you completely lost your senses? You've just reassured your grandmother, and now you're planning a divorce?"

Alexander retorted, "You were already aware, weren't you? Why the feigned surprise?"

"It's not surprise, it's utter disbelief. I have half a mind to strike you."

With a swift motion, George ripped the divorce papers in half and slammed them onto the nightstand.

"Did you honestly believe I would stand idly by and allow this to happen?"
