Chapter 566 Extinguishing Fiercely

Ava had just reached the doorway when Alexander roared from behind. "Ava, don't go!"

Ava ignored him and continued walking out.

Suddenly, a sound rang out. Ava turned around to see Alexander falling off the bed, the needle from his arm being pulled out of his body, blood soaking the floor.

"Ava, don't leave!" Alexander shouted.

"Alex!" Ava rushed over, squatting down to help him up. "Are you out of your mind? What are you doing?"

"Ava, I was wrong!" Alexander grabbed her hand tightly. "I know I was wrong. Please don't go, don't leave!"

The medical monitor beeped, and soon, medical staff rushed in, lifting Alexander back onto the bed.

After a dozen minutes.

"Alexander, you are a grown-up, aren't you? Why are you acting like a child? Have you been weaned off?" Ava was truly being driven crazy by him.

She really wanted to give him a beating, to thrash him within an inch of his life.

Alexander leaned against the head of the bed, looking weak and ashamed, bowing his head silently like a child who had done wrong, not saying a word.

Ava was so infuriated by him that she felt dizzy and almost unable to stand, so she sat down in a chair. "I don't even know what to say."

"I'm sorry." Alexander lifted his head, looking ashamed. "I know I was wrong."

"I don't believe what you say. You have never followed through, admitting mistakes but never changing. That's your style. I even think your behavior is despicable, using self-torture to provoke me deliberately!" Ava said angrily.

"Ava, I..."

"Don't explain to me." Ava interjected, "You disappeared at the wedding, came back reeking of alcohol after ten minutes, caused a scene, then ended up in the hospital, only to roll off the hospital bed. Even a child wouldn't behave like you. Alexander, I'm not your mother; we're divorced now, and I'm not obligated to indulge your antics forever! Can you stop deliberately tormenting me with self-inflicted methods?"

Alexander's heart felt like it had been ruthlessly cut open by a sharp blade. He hoarsely said, "I admit my stomach is in trouble; I don't care at all because when I open my eyes and see you by my side, I feel grateful; I have no regrets."

"But..." Alexander's breathing became rapid. "I really didn't mean to make you feel sorry for me intentionally. I was just in so much pain, and I didn't know what to do, so I went to drink because if I hadn't left at that moment and hadn't gone drunk, I would have collapsed on the spot. Alcohol was the only solution. Otherwise, I would have gone crazy on the spot like a madman.

"Ava, I'm telling the truth; I didn't lie to you; I really didn't mean it; I know I was wrong; I'm trying my best to change; I know how much of a jerk I used to be; I'm really changing.

"Even though I may still look like a jerk, I'm really trying to win you back."

Ava stared at him in silence for a long time and finally, with a sense of resignation, said, "You should know that your attempts to win me back are futile."

"I know," Alexander interrupted her, "I know you won't forgive me; I see no hope at all, and I have no confidence in myself; even if I stand with you today, I had a fleeting illusion, but you ruthlessly extinguished it."
