Chapter 875 Went Blank
Ava and Alexander were sitting across from each other, so they could catch each other's eyes with just a quick glance, while Madison had her back to Ava.
Alexander happened to look up and catch Ava's eye.
Ava's heart did a little flip, and she quickly looked away, focusing on cutting her food and shoving it into her mouth.
The food was great, but it tasted like crap to her.
Ava thought, 'Why the hell could everything be like this?'
That woman, Madison, was actually Alexander's girlfriend!
Alexander had told her he loved her, but he was now with another girl.
Ava knew she shouldn't be pissed. After all, she had married William.
But she didn't marry William out of love, while Alexander and Madison were definitely together because of love.
She swore she'd never trust men again.
Their love always seemed to go bad real quick.
Ava told herself not to blame Alexander since they were already divorced.
It was normal for Alexander to be with another woman now, but she still couldn't control her heartache, her jealousy, and bitterness.
She had no control over her deepest instincts.
She thought, 'Why did I and Alexander have to go through such crazy stuff? Are we really not meant to be?'
She sneaked a look and saw Alexander gently brush Madison's hair away from her forehead, his movements tender and his gaze full of affection.
Seeing Ava's expression, William turned to glance in the direction of Alexander and Madison.
"Ava, how about we bounce? Let's not stay here."
"It's okay," Ava forced a smile, "We don't need to move. Let's finish eating first."
Even though she said that, she felt super sad inside, but she tried her best to appear calm in front of William.
She couldn't react too strongly; it would upset William, and besides, she and Alexander were already divorced. Even if Alexander was cozy with another woman, why should she be angry or in pain?
Pain only meant she couldn't let go, but Alexander seemed to have moved on.
Maybe it was because of her choice back then that Alexander really stopped loving her.
But at that time, she was in a really tough spot, and no matter whom she chose, it would have been wrong.
It was like being in the ruins of an earthquake, with heavy concrete slabs pressing down on both her kids. She could only save one, and no matter whom she saved, it would be painful. She had to choose one; she had no other option, or both would die.
William was seriously injured and recovering, while Alexander was healthy and could endure more, so she made that choice.
If she could, she would have taken the injury upon herself to ensure their safety.
Alexander had given up on her, and she had given up on Alexander, so there was no way they could be together again.
William was holding Sunny, making it hard for him to eat, and there was still a whole piece of food on his plate.
Seeing this, Ava immediately took his plate and cut the food into small pieces with a knife and fork, placing it in front of him.
Ava's small gestures of care and tenderness didn't go unnoticed by Alexander.
Alexander's gaze grew colder, and he signaled to a waiter.
When the waiter came over, Alexander whispered something in his ear, and the waiter nodded.
After a while, the performer on stage said, "The next piece is dedicated by Mr. Mitchell to Ms. Allen. He hopes Ms. Allen will always be happy and that he will always be by her side."
After the performer finished speaking, they began to play a romantic piano piece.
Everyone listened to the beautiful music and cast their blessings towards Alexander and Madison.
For a moment, they became the center of attention.
Hearing the music, Ava's mind went blank.
