Chapter 356 Stop bothering me

With a palpable air of impatience, Mia responded to the incessant ringing of her phone. Her voice was laced with irritation as she snapped, "George, you're becoming a nuisance. Can't you guess why I'm not answering your calls? Leave me be and find someone else to pester!" With a swift, angry motion, she hurled the phone against the wall.

The sudden outburst startled Ava, causing her to retreat several steps. She had never before witnessed such fury from Mia. Though she couldn't quite comprehend the cause of Mia's wrath, she had an inkling that it was somehow related to her.

Despite the fear gnawing at her, Ava chose to remain. She maintained a respectful distance, silently observing Mia's stormy demeanor.

The remnants of Mia's phone lay scattered on the floor, the screen shattered into a mosaic of glass. The room was in disarray, chairs askew and broken bottles littering the floor. Clearly, Mia's temper had flared before Ava's arrival.

Overwhelmed with agitation, Mia ran her fingers through her hair, then collapsed onto the bed, shrouding herself with the blanket.

Ava, taking initiative, retrieved her own phone from her pocket and set it on the table. She rolled up her sleeves and began the task of tidying the chaotic room.

When Mia finally emerged from her self-imposed cocoon, she found Ava diligently restoring order to the room. Ava worked efficiently, and before long, the room was once again neat, the shards of broken bottles swept away. Throughout the process, Ava remained silent.

Upon completing her task, Ava stood to the side, her silence mirroring Mia's. A tense standoff seemed to ensue between the two women.

Eventually, Mia rose from the bed, her tone noticeably calmer. "I've been dealing with a lot recently, hence the frustration. It's not about you," she assured Ava.

Hearing Mia address her, Ava exhaled a sigh of relief and cautiously approached. "Mia, if something's bothering you, you can confide in me. I may not be able to help, but I can listen," she offered.

"It's nothing major, just work-related stress," Mia replied evenly. "I'm aware of my temper. If you see me like this again, it's best to keep your distance."

Ava offered a gentle smile, "If you need company, I can stay with you f or a while."

Mia snorted softly. "Ava, you're the type to bottle up your grievances and accommodate others. Life won't be easy for you."

Unfazed, Ava responded, "That's okay. If I can help others, I consider myself fortunate."

Mia shook her head, a hint of affection in her voice, "You're such an innocent girl."

"Mia, if there's something bothering you and you don't want to share, that's fine. But don't let it consume you. Things will pass. If they haven't, perhaps it's because you haven't let go."

Mia sighed, "Alright. Why did you come to see me?"

"I was worried about you. You weren't answering my calls."

"Is there something else? Like wanting me to meet Dalton?"

Ava hesitated for a moment. "Mia, I didn't have any ulterior motives. I was genuinely concerned about you. But since you've brought it up, are you sure you won't reconsider meeting him?"

Mia looked at her, "Why should I meet Dalton? Give me some reasons."

"He wants to meet you because you're the president of Fengliqi Bank. He wants to get to know you," Mia explained.

"Really? Just to get to know me?" Ava asked. "I'm sure Dalton knows many bank presidents. I don't understand why he would go to such lengths to meet you."

"Go to such lengths?" Mia echoed, confusion etched on her face. "What do you mean?"

Ava sighed, "Let me explain." She then proceeded to recount the entire series of events to Mia.
