Chapter 534 You Were Pregnant
"Uncle, you haven't left yet?" Ava walked up.
Brandon looked her up and down. "What's wrong with you? Are you feeling unwell?"
Ava shook her head. "No, I just suddenly needed to use the restroom."
Brandon, hands in his pockets, stared at her suspiciously. "But I heard you vomiting."
"I might have eaten something bad," Ava said with an awkward smile, "I'm really sorry, my stomach isn't very good."
"You used to have this problem often?" Brandon clearly didn't believe her.
He cast his gaze downwards towards her abdomen, where upon closer inspection, a subtle swell could be discerned.
Ava felt a bit guilty and gently covered her stomach with her hand.
Brandon frowned; thinking about Ava's poor condition and hearing her vomit, he had an idea.
"Are you pregnant?" he asked directly.
Ava's heart skipped a beat, and she quickly said, "I'm not."
Seeing Ava's panicked reaction, Brandon became more certain of his suspicion. "If it's true, you can't hide it forever."
Ava felt like crying, "I..."
Brandon took a step forward. "You don't need to feel any pressure. I told you if you need help with anything, you can tell me. If you don't want me to tell anyone, I won't."
Brandon looked around at the people coming and going and whispered, "Let's go somewhere quieter."
Ava nodded, and they left the restaurant.
Brandon took Ava to his car.
As soon as they got in, Ava said, "Uncle, please don't tell anyone about this. I'm begging you."
"It seems this is Alexander's child."
It wasn't hard to guess. If it were William's child, Ava wouldn't be hiding it.
Ava nodded. "Yes."
"How many months pregnant are you?"
"Over three months."
"So, you got pregnant before you and Alexander divorced, and he doesn't know about it."
Alexander didn't care about her at all.
"I failed to inform him of what I intended to convey, as he unexpectedly broached the topic of divorce with me, leaving me with no words to offer."
Brandon frowned slightly. "Why didn't you tell him? Maybe if you had, he wouldn't have divorced you."
Ava smiled helplessly, "I didn't want to use the child to trap him. A marriage maintained for the sake of a child would only bring pain to the child. I thought he didn't love me, so I didn't say anything."
"You thought he didn't love you?" Brandon picked up on something in Ava's words. "Do you mean he loves you now?"
Seeing Ava's silence, Brandon was sure of his suspicion.
"Then why don't you tell him now?"
"Now I'm married to William. How can I bring this up? And you know William's current condition. He has forgotten about everything. If he finds out I'm carrying Alexander's child, he won't be able to handle it. I can't lie and say it's his child. Things are already bad enough; I can't make them worse."
Brandon sighed softly.
"It truly puts you in a difficult position. Facing so many challenges, you must have endured significant pressure. These men indeed know how to bring trouble to your doorstep." His gaze turned a bit sinister.
"Uncle, please don't tell anyone about this, okay?"
