Chapter 636 I'm Getting Married
Isabella said sheepishly, "I swear I didn't do anything. Don't throw around accusations without proof."
"Proof?" Harper smirked slightly. "Isabella, if it wasn't you, then why did you flee when you saw the police?"
"Did the police find any evidence?" Isabella asked, "If not, then it's slander."
"Alright, enough with the stubborn act," Josh cut in, sounding impatient. "You know if you're innocent or not. If you weren't part of the Harrington family, no one would protect you. And you're complaining that we didn't contact you? If we had, would you have dared to show up? Now you sneak back in quietly, what's your game?"
"This is my home too. Can't I come back?" Isabella pulled out a chair and sat down. "You have no idea what I've been through the last two years. I had a lung transplant and a heart transplant, both of which almost killed me!"
"You're in good health. Why would you need such operations?" Harper asked, intrigued. "When you were with the Harrington family, you had annual checkups, and there were no problems. How'd things go downhill so fast after you split?"
"Illnesses can blindside you. Sometimes checkups miss things. By the time they caught it, it was dire, and I needed a lung transplant. But due to some accidents, the surgery didn't go well, and I had to go abroad for treatment. The bad lungs affected my heart, ending in a recent heart transplant. I just got out of the hospital yesterday."
After Isabella finished speaking, she saw the skeptical looks on Josh and Harper's faces. She immediately pulled open her clothes to reveal the surgical scars on her chest. "See? Can I fake something like that?"
"Looks like it's true," Harper said. "But I'm curious. If you were sick, why didn't you tell us but secretly went off to get treatment? Now that you're better, you suddenly come back. What's the deal?"
Harper had piercing eyes and clearly was not someone easy to fool.
As the eldest daughter of the Harrington family, she oversaw most of the family's business. In this household, she held the most highest position.
"Harper, chill with the suspicion, okay? This is my home too. I've just recovered from a serious illness and wanted to reconnect with you. Do you really have to be so suspicious?"
Rising from the sofa, Harper straightened her sleeves. "So you're telling me nothing happened, and I came back from the company for nothing. I need to get back to my work."
Josh, too, rose to his feet. "If you need anything, just tell the servants. Harper and I are swamped with work."
Seeing that they were about to leave, Isabella immediately said, "I'm getting married."
Josh and Harper stopped in their tracks and turned around.
They looked at Isabella with questioning eyes.
Josh asked, "Who are you marrying? You didn't just pick up some random guy during these two years, did you?"
Isabella noticed the skeptical looks on her dad and sister's faces; it was evident they thought she had just stumbled upon some random guy.
"He has a good standing," Isabella said, lifting her head slightly with some pride."If I drop his name, you might be in for a surprise."
"Really?" Harper smiled slightly. "Who is it?"
The suspicious looks on her father and sister's faces indicated that they clearly thought she had found some random man.
