Chapter 364 Unveiling the Truth
"Why hasn't Vicky arrived yet? Could something have occurred? Please, call her and inquire," Ava requested, her voice not laced with impatience, but rather brimming with worry. "Very well, I'll place the call. Please wait here," William responded. Extracting his phone from his pocket, he stepped outside. Ava watched his retreating figure, her brow furrowed in confusion. 'Why does he need to step outside to place a call?' she wondered.
However, she didn't dwell on it, instead leaning back in her seat. Her hands gently caressed her stomach as a smile graced her lips. "Little one, once we've sorted out Uncle William's situation, I'll take you to a beautiful place. From then on, we will live together."
Meanwhile, outside, William dialed Victoria's number.
After a few tense moments, she answered, her voice echoing in his ear, "William."
His annoyance was palpable as he asked, "Where are you? Be honest, have you located the right person?"
"I'm already here," Victoria's voice floated from the other side.
Turning his head, William spotted Victoria, guiding a woman towards them at a brisk pace.
Trailing behind Victoria was Elinor, who was panting heavily, her legs nearly giving out from exhaustion. She had encountered this peculiar customer at the club, who had insisted on befriending her and inviting her to dinner. Naturally, she had declined vehemently.
However, she hadn't anticipated that this woman, Victoria, was a wealthy heiress, and the club's manager held her in high regard, stating that she was the sister of the president of the Blue Sky Group.
Victoria had requested a favor of her, promising a reward of ten thousand dollars upon completion. The task was simple enough, merely pretending to be Elinor herself.
As the two women approached, William rose to his feet and moved towards them.
Victoria immediately stepped forward, latching onto William's arm. "William, I have found the real Elinor for you," she announced.
Elinor, drenched in sweat, stared at the man before her in astonishment, a wave of panic washing over her.
She hadn't expected Victoria's brother to be so strikingly handsome!
Upon their first meeting, Elinor was disheveled and sweating profusely. She quickly composed herself, forcing a smile onto her face. "Hello," she greeted.
William merely glanced at her, his face devoid of emotion. However, when his gaze landed on Victoria, his brow furrowed. "If this matter is exposed, you won't be spared," he warned.
"William, haven't I handled it for you? There won't be any issues," Victoria assured him, making an OK gesture with her hand.
William then turned his attention to Elinor. His tone was slightly softer, albeit still cold. "From now on, you will be called Elinor."
"Huh?" Elinor was taken aback. "But my name is already Elinor."
"You are called Elinor?" William asked, his brow furrowing further.
Elinor nodded slightly. "Yes, is there an issue? Can't I use this name?"
"No," William said, "Vicky should have told you to be mindful of certain things."
Elinor said, "This..."
Seeing Elinor's hesitant expression, William shot Victoria a glance. "Victoria, did you explain everything clearly to her?"
Victoria was startled and said, "I..."
Victoria gripped Elinor's arm and said, "Just pretend that you know my brother, and then..."
"Will." Ava's gentle voice interrupted from behind.
Everyone turned to look. Ava had already made her way towards them, standing before the trio.
Upon seeing the unfamiliar young woman, Ava offered a warm smile. "Hello, you must be Ms. Fairfax?"
"What?" Elinor was momentarily stunned, then nodded. "Yes, I am Elinor."
