Chapter 621 Smug and Sinister
Sure enough, it was the surveillance footage from the restaurant that day. It clearly showed that Alexander didn't use any force; he had merely shaken off William's hand. When William saw Ava behind Alexander, he deliberately fell backward and hit the wall.
The footage made it obvious that William did it on purpose; Alexander didn't push him at all.
The camera even captured William giving Alexander a provocative smile when Ava was accusing him, looking very triumphant. His expression was completely smug and sinister.
William's heart raced, and a trace of panic flashed through his eyes. He thought, 'Alexander is really difficult to deal with! No, I couldn't let Ava see this message. It would be disastrous if she did.'
He was about to delete the message as if nothing had happened, but on second thought, he didn't do it.
He pondered, 'Alexander would definitely find ways to bug Ava and question her about this matter. If she found out the message was deleted, she would definitely be suspicious. Even if I could delete the message on Ava's end, I couldn't delete the backup on Alexander's end.'
Perhaps because of his guilt, William instinctively felt a bit panicked, yet he told himself not to panic. Since he discovered this first, he had the upper hand. At least it was better than Ava suddenly questioning him after seeing it.
After calming himself down, William took a deep breath and then marked the message he had just opened as unread.
He returned to the room, placed the phone by Ava's bedside, and then left her room.
When Ava woke up, it was almost noon, and she suddenly felt very hungry.
She glanced at the time, quickly got out of bed, washed up, and left the room.
She learned from the servant that William was in his room, and Ava immediately went to find him.
She knocked on William's door. "William, are you there?" But there was no response from inside.
Ava, feeling a bit uneasy, opened the door directly. As soon as she entered, she saw William holding a tissue, seemingly wiping away tears.
She frowned slightly and immediately walked over to ask, "William, what's wrong? Did something happen? Is your head hurting again?"
William quickly avoided Ava and hid the tissue. "I'm fine. Don't worry. My eyes just hurt a bit."
"Your eyes hurt? Let me see." Ava turned his head to look at his red and swollen eyes. "Let's go to the hospital and have them checked. It might be an allergy."
"I'm fine." William grabbed her hand. "It'll be better in a while. I'm really fine."
"William." Ava squatted down. "Tell me what's wrong. I'll be worried if you don't."
"I..." William's expression suddenly became a bit distressed. "Ava, I'm sorry. There's something I feel I must apologize to you for."
"What is it that you must apologize to me for?" She thought about it and couldn't recall anything William had done to wrong her.
"I didn't dare to tell you because I was afraid you'll be angry with me and think I'm bad." He looked haggard and anxious, like a child.
Ava stood up, feeling uncomfortable from squatting, so she pulled up a chair to sit beside him. "William, just tell me. Let me hear what it's about first. Don't worry."
