Chapter 909 Can You Cook?

Seeing the words "honey" and "kid," Vincent's brow furrowed a bit.

'Ava's got a hubby and a kid? So, she's hitched already. She looks barely in her twenties, super young. Didn't see that coming,' Vincent mused to himself.

For some reason, he felt a tiny pang of disappointment.

But then, he shook it off, feeling kinda silly.

Vincent wanted Ava to catch some more Z's, but her husband seemed super worried. If she didn't text back, he might freak out and call the cops.

So, Vincent grabbed Ava's phone and shot off a reply.

Vincent: [Didn't sleep well last night. Gonna catch some more shut-eye. I'll call you later.]

William replied right away: [Okay, you sleep. I'll wait for your call.]

Reading the message, Vincent suddenly felt a wave of annoyance.

Ava's eyes fluttered open; it was already noon. She quickly sat up and rubbed her eyes.

She glanced at the clock; it was twelve o'clock.

Ava jumped out of bed and headed to the bathroom to freshen up.

After that, she opened the door and saw Vincent coming her way.

"You're up? Sorry, I slept so long. How are you feeling?" she asked.

"Not dead yet. Can you cook?" Vincent asked bluntly.

Ava blinked at him, confused.

Vincent added, "I'm starving."

Ava got the hint, "Yeah, I can cook. What do you want to eat?"

"Whatever. You pick," Vincent shrugged.

"Alright, is there a supermarket nearby? I need to grab some groceries. Your fridge is empty," Ava said.

Vincent pointed to the fridge, "Not anymore."

Ava walked over and opened it. It was packed with fresh veggies, fruits, and meat.

"Go for it," Vincent said, heading to the living room. He plopped down on the sofa, cracked open a beer, and started watching TV.

Ava picked out some meat and veggies, washed them, and got ready to cook.

Suddenly, she remembered something.

She had promised to call William in the morning but totally spaced.

She realized her phone wasn't in her pocket.

Ava came out of the kitchen and said to Vincent, "Sorry, I need to grab my phone from your room. It's in there."

Vincent didn't even look up, just nodded.

Ava went to Vincent's room and grabbed her phone from the bedside table.

As she walked out, Vincent said, "Your husband called and texted. I replied for you."

Ava frowned and checked the message. "Why did you reply?"

"You were out cold, didn't wanna wake you. I just replied to that one message, didn't snoop through your phone," Vincent said, not seeing the big deal.

Since it was already done, Ava let it slide and took her phone back to the kitchen.

She dialed William's number, and he picked up quickly.

"William, sorry, I slept in and just woke up. Totally forgot to call you," Ava apologized.

"It's cool. As long as you're okay. I was worried and almost came to find you," William replied.

"No need to come. I'll be back soon," Ava said.

"Are you coming back today?" William asked.

"Yeah, this afternoon," Ava confirmed.

"Alright, Sunny and I will be waiting for you at home," William replied.

Ava asked, "How's Sunny? Did he keep you up last night?"

"He's good," William said. "He's been pretty chill."
