Chapter 728 Told Him

Ava nodded. "Yeah."

William felt a knot in his stomach. 'What did she and Alexander talk about?'

'Did Alexander badmouth me to Ava?'

'If he spilled the beans...'

William scrambled for an excuse, trying to figure out how to explain things to Ava. He couldn't let Alexander ruin him.

"Ava, what did you talk about?"

He tried to keep his tone calm.

'I can't show fear. Everything's still unclear. Panicking would make me look guilty.'

'I did nothing wrong. Alexander had it coming!'

Ava looked up at him, sadness in her eyes. "I went to see him, but I didn't actually see him."

William was puzzled. "So, did you see him or not?"

Ava looked drained. "I went to his hospital room, but he wouldn't let me in. I had to talk to him through the door, but he didn't respond. I ended up just saying what I needed to and leaving."

Ava felt a sharp pain in her chest and clutched her heart. "He didn't want to see me or talk to me. I wanted to barge in, but I couldn't. If I forced my way in, he'd hate me even more."

William secretly exhaled, feeling relieved.

'So they didn't meet after all.'

'Weird, does Alexander really hate Ava that much?'

A faint smile crept onto William's face.

'Looks like Alexander and Ava won't get back together.'

'It'd be best if he never sees her again.'

'That way, Ava will never know the truth.'

'As time goes by, even if Ava finds out, she might not believe Alexander. I could always say he's lying.'

William gently put his arm around her shoulder.

"Ava, maybe he needs time to think. Don't be too sad. He heard everything you said."

Ava nodded.

She glanced at her phone again.

William asked, "Why do you keep looking at your phone? Do you think he'll call?"

Ava replied, "I told him everything through the door yesterday, including that I'm pregnant."

William's hand on her shoulder clenched into a fist. He forced a smile. "Really? You finally told him? That's good. It's his child, after all."

Ava said, "I also told him about the surgery. I told him if he called before 10 AM, it meant he wanted the child. If he didn't call, it meant he didn't."

William's fist relaxed a bit, and he patted her shoulder.

"There's still time. I'll wait with you. It's his child. He won't abandon it."

Ava turned, her eyes red. "But I told him yesterday, and he didn't react. Could he have been asleep? Maybe he didn't hear?"

"No way," William quickly reassured her. "He heard you. Even if he was asleep, he'd wake up. He definitely heard you. He was probably just too sad to process it. He'll call. How could he not want his child?"
