Chapter 885 The Police Arrived

He owned up to the fact that he went overboard with his words, but they were said in the heat of the moment, not from the heart.

But you know how people are—they always twist things and don't care about the full story.

"William, why'd you only record that one line? Play the whole thing and let everyone hear what you said!" As he spoke, Alexander lunged forward to snatch William's phone!

William, still holding Sunny, quickly stepped back when he saw Alexander charging at him.

Alexander's move got everyone around them on high alert, and someone immediately stepped in to stop him.

Alexander, fuming, yelled, "William, you lowlife, you twisted my words!"

"Twisted your words?" William shot back, "Those were your exact words. How did I twist anything? Look at you, all flustered. Can't handle the truth, huh? Feeling guilty much?"

"William, I swear, I won't let you get away with this!"

"Enough!" Ava shouted, "Alexander, if you're gonna go after William, you might as well kill me too!"

Alexander looked at her, eyes filled with despair, "You still believe him, don't you?"

"If I don't believe him, should I believe you? Alexander, weren't those your words on the recording?"

Ava's sorrowful eyes flashed with a sarcastic smile, "Alexander, you're something else. It's good you're giving up on me. From the start, you never wanted me. You divorced me for Isabella, always believed her, and blamed me. Then you regretted it, came back saying you always loved me, with a bunch of excuses."

Ava laughed bitterly, almost delirious, "Alexander, this is your truth. Now you finally see who you really want. And it's not me!"

"Ava, I..."

"Don't say anything." Ava cut him off coldly, "No matter what you say, I won't believe you. I only believe what you say in private, those are your true words."

"Alexander, you're so shameless! We're divorced, you have a girlfriend, and you still come here to mess with me. You're just trying to provoke me!"

Ava wiped the tears from her face, "Why do you have to make me hate you? Why?"

In that moment, Alexander's eyes looked like a storm-ravaged land, full of cracks and broken pieces.

Deep within those wounded eyes was his shattered heart, trampled into pieces and mixed with the cold earth.

"Stop it, stop it!" Madison angrily said, "You are being way too excessive!"

"Too excessive?" Ava sneered, "Ms. Allen, from your perspective, of course, it's too excessive. But from my perspective, Alexander is a jerk. He says he sees me clearly now, that's good, because I see him clearly, too. You should keep an eye on your boyfriend. Since he has you, why did he come here to see me? Saying it's a coincidence, I don't believe it!"

"You!" Madison had no way to refute this.

Alexander did come specifically to find Ava, that was a fact.

She held Alexander's hand with a pained expression, not knowing what to say, just looking at him sadly.

At this moment, the police arrived.
