Chapter 452 Wrong Timing

"That patient seems to have been attacked. We still don't know who he is. The police are looking for his relatives. Once they get the relatives' signature, the surgery can proceed immediately!"

Ava felt a heavy weight in her heart as she saw their excitement.

From their perspective, of course, they were happy. However, the person they were talking about, the victim of the attack, had lost his life in vain.

Ultimately, it was a life for a life.

Indeed, as long as it was not someone you cared about who died, it matterd little who perished.

The doctor continue, "The organs of that patient are exceptionally healthy. If the family agrees, his corneas, all his internal organs, and even his skin can be used to save many lives."
Alexander inquired, "You mean, he was attacked?"
The doctor nodded. "Indeed, judging by the extent of his injuries, he seems to have been assaulted, and with no identification on him, it's likely a case of robbery."

Alexander said, "I understand. When you find his family, tell them that if they agree, I can agree to any conditions they have."

Ava's mind was muddled and foggy, her entire being on the verge of collapsing.
Her heart felt heavy, as if something unpleasant had occurred, leaving her deeply unsettled.

After the doctor left, Alexander hugged Ava. "Ava, did you hear that? Isabella is saved."

Ava pushed him away forcefully. "She's saved. What's that got to do with me? Do you expect me to be happy with you?"

"Ava, don't you understand? When Isabella recovers, I will explain to her clearly, and I will never see her again."

Ava sneered, "So, as long as she's alive, you're relieved, and you can break up with her with a clear conscience?"

Alexander frowned. "Isn't this what you wanted? Didn't you ask me to make a choice before? I've made my choice now. Why aren't you happy?"

"What's there for me to be happy about? It's already too late. Since you brought up divorce so long ago, there has been ample time for you to bring it up to me, and plenty of opportunities for you to make a decision. However, you didn't, not even once. You had to wait until I had already registered with William before telling me. What perfect timing."

Ava really felt that Alexander and her always made decisions at the wrong time.

Alexander's expression immediately turned cold. "It's never too late as long as I can understand my true feelings."

"It's too late. Even God doesn't want us to be together. Otherwise, why didn't you tell me earlier? How many times do you want me to say it? I'm already registered with William."

Actually, registering with William wasn't the point. After all, William and her had a fake marriage, ready to divorce at any time. The real issue was that she couldn't pretend that nothing had happened.

The pain Alexander brought her was too deep, and she was afraid.

"Do you love him?" Alexander asked, "Tell me, did you marry him because you love him? Did you two had an affair long ago? Or is it because you were too sad, you married him just to seek comfort?"

Ava couldn't answer his question. Neither was true.

If she were to tell Alexander that she married William to help him, Alexander would undoubtedly become even more entangled with her.
However, she couldn't confess her love for William because it would be a lie, something she couldn't bring herself to utter.
Given Alexander's current state of irrationality, if he were to confront William, the consequences could be dire.
