Chapter 666 Cruel Words
"Did you catch that? Your ex-husband is begging for you to talk to him. Don't stay silent, or he'll think I killed you and won't play games with me anymore. That would really make me unhappy."
Ava remained silent. What could she say to Alexander? In her current situation, anything she said would be a fatal blow to him.
As things had come to this point, Alexander would definitely come to save her. But deep down, she didn't want him to come. If he did, he was bound to meet a bad end.
She couldn't save her own life at the cost of someone else's. If Alexander died, Scarlett wouldn't make it either. What about his parents? They only got one son.
"You bastard, did you kill Ava?" Alexander roared, unable to contain his anger.
Ava still didn't speak. That was probably for the best. If Alexander thought she was dead, he wouldn't foolishly come to save her.
Suddenly, a sharp knife was pointed at her belly, the blade glinting menacingly.
The man leaned in and whispered indifferently in her ear, "Don't you want the bastard in your belly?"
Ava's lips quivered in fear, and her gaze shifted to the screen of his phone.
Under duress, she stammered, "Alexander, I'm still alive."
Hearing Ava's voice, Alexander felt a wave of relief. He quickly asked, "Ava, are you okay? Are you hurt? Did he do anything to you?"
"Didn't you want to marry Isabella? Why cancelled the wedding? Didn't you divorce me for this day? I'm really speechless. If you think I'm gonna thank you and run back into your arms just because you canceled the wedding for me, you're totally wrong!"
Ava tried her best to say these harsh words, thinking that perhaps Alexander would be disappointed in her and wouldn't come to save her. To her, this maniac was even more dangerous than the kidnappers.
Alexander's heart clenches in pain as he heard Ava's cruel words.
But who wouldn't want to be saved in a moment of danger?
Unless that person was worried that others would also be put in danger.
Ava knew full well that her words could provoke him, possibly causing him to abandon her in anger. Yet, she still uttered those words.
It wasn't because she arrogantly believed he wouldn't get angry no matter what she said, but she was worried that he would fall into danger because of her.
"Ava, it was my own decision to cancel the wedding with Isabella . Whatever the consequences, I'll bear them myself. It has nothing to do with you, and I don't need your thanks. I just want you to be safe."
"Alexander, you're so full of yourself. Why do you think you can keep me safe? We're over. My safety is none of your business, so stay out of it!"
The more Ava said such things, the more worried Alexander became.
"Ava, you won't come to any harm. I won't let anything happen to you. Don't worry, I..."
Alexander said something else, but Ava didn't hear it because the man had turned off the speaker.
He held the phone to his ear and said, "Alright, you heard Ava's voice. Heartwarming, huh? But she's not feeling it."
Suppressing his anger, Alexander said, "Tell me, what do you want now?"
"I'll give you an address. Come alone, and don't bring anyone."
"Alright, deal." Alexander responded decisively, "Give me the address, and I'll come right away."
