Chapter 1032 Still Able to Brush Off
Madison watched Alexander nail it, not saying a word about what he did last night, clearly trying to keep it from her.
But Madison knew she couldn't call him out either. There was this thin line between them, and if she crossed it, there'd be nothing left.
At least for now, Alexander could still keep her calm.
If the day came when he couldn't even do that, it would mean there was no hope for them anymore. So Madison just pretended she didn't know.
Alexander noticed Madison's pale face and gently touched her forehead.
"Madison, what's up? You feeling okay?" he asked.
Madison shook her head. "I'm fine. by the way," she changed the subject, "what's going on with William?"
Alexander sighed. "He must've gotten a heads-up, so he bolted back to Berlyn."
Madison's heart skipped a beat. "He ran back? What are we gonna do? Will the authority from Stellaria go to Berlyn to catch him?"
Alexander shook his head. "No, all Stellaria can do is try to negotiate with Berlyn to hand William over."
Madison frowned. "Will Berlyn hand him over?"
Alexander smirked. "Probably not. William's got big connections in Berlyn, so they won't give him up easily."
"Then what do we do? Is there any other way?" Madison asked, worried.
Alexander said, "For now, there's no other way unless he leaves Berlyn someday."
Madison said, "But if William knows what's up, he won't leave Berlyn."
Alexander nodded, "Yeah, so we're stuck."
Madison looked distressed. "How did William find out? Did someone tip him off?"
"I think so too," Alexander said seriously, "Someone close to me might be feeding William info about my every move, so I need to dig deep and find out who leaked it."
More than just him and Madison knew about the hidden camera.
Madison's heart skipped a beat, and a flash of panic crossed her eyes.
She couldn't let Alexander find out she had intentionally leaked the info to William.
Madison said, "Yeah, we need to find out who it is. It's scary how sneaky William is. By the way, could it be..."
Madison stopped mid-sentence.
"Could it be what?" Alexander pressed.
Madison said, "Actually, I was thinking... never mind."
"What's wrong? It's okay, just tell me," Alexander said, seeing her hesitation and worrying she was holding back.
Madison said, "Alexander, promise you won't get mad if I say it."
Alexander said helplessly, "If you think I'll get mad, you don't have to tell me."
Madison's face stiffened. "Alexander."
She looked pitiful, lowering her head like she had done something wrong.
Madison said, "Could it have something to do with Mrs. Bennett? After all, Mr. Bennett is her husband."
"How could it?" Alexander frowned. "Ava doesn't even know about this."
Madison knew Alexander would react this way.
Madison added, "Alexander, have you ever suspected that Ava, being so familiar with you, has guessed something and warned William? Think about it, is there anything suspicious?"
