Chapter 814 Don't Want to Be Rescued

"But I am," Alexander said, turning around. "Believe it or not."

He didn't care if Madison believed him or how Isabella saw him. He didn't care about any of it anymore.

He didn't care how his family viewed him, let alone others.

"No, you're not like that! Alexander, why won't you admit it?" Madison said sadly. "You're in pain. Why won't you admit it? You're not the person you say you are; there must be a reason for what you're doing."

"There's no reason," Alexander snapped. "Why do you always make excuses for men? There's no reason. I betrayed my wife, and that's why I'm in this mess. I deserve it!"

Unable to hold back his anger, Alexander suddenly roared.

Madison looked frightened, staring at him with wide eyes.

Realizing he was getting emotional, Alexander took a deep breath. "What's done is done. Stop making excuses for me. I'm not a good man."

Madison clenched her fists, tears streaming down her face. "Even if you did it, you know it was wrong now."

Alexander snorted. "So what if I know it was wrong? It doesn't matter anymore."

"No, it does matter!" Madison insisted. "Mr. Mitchell, everyone makes mistakes. People have flaws; it's impossible to do everything perfectly. But as long as you know your mistakes and correct them, it's never too late."

"Never too late?" Alexander found it amusing. "Can Ava come back to me?"

Madison said, "You don't need to keep focusing on her. You know your mistake now, and you won't make it again. I believe you'll meet a truly good woman."

Hearing this, Alexander seemed to get angry again. "Madison, you're too presumptuous. Are you saying the woman I love isn't good?"

Madison's heart trembled, and she quickly shook her head. "No, that's not what I meant."

She had spoken out of excitement; she didn't know his ex-wife or what kind of woman she was.

"If that's not what you meant, then what did you mean?" Alexander stepped closer, shouting, "I will never like you."

Madison felt extremely sad.

She gritted her teeth and said angrily, "Alexander, I risked my life to save you. Do you think I did it to see you pretend to be this jerk?"

She could feel that Alexander was pretending; he wasn't the person he claimed to be.

Even if he had made a mistake, he had repented. He deserved to be forgiven.

But because his ex-wife wouldn't forgive him, he had given up on himself.

There were so many women in the world; he didn't need to focus on his ex-wife alone.

Madison thought, 'The mistakes he made before would only make him better. Why couldn't he understand that? He was stuck in his original way of thinking.'

"Did I ask you to save me?" Alexander suddenly shouted. "Madison, what's it to you? Why did you have to get involved? Couldn't you just let me die there? Now you think you can use this to hold me hostage and make me grateful? I feel disgusted because I didn't want to be saved by you!"

Alexander took a few steps back. "I've repaid your kindness. Stop bothering me."

Alexander turned and left the ward.

Madison collapsed to the ground.
