Chapter 1168 No Motivation

Alexander sat alone in the hall.

When Scarlett was alive, there was laughter and joy, but now he was the only one left.

He sat on the carpet, pulling at his hair, his face extremely pale.

Complex emotions surged from the bottom up, making it almost impossible for him to breathe.

With trembling hands, Alexander took out his phone from his pocket and dialed a number.

On the other end, the call was quickly answered, "Hello, Alexander."

It was Madison's voice.

But Alexander didn't speak.

Madison sounded a bit anxious, "What's wrong? Is something the matter?"

"Alexander, are you okay?"

"Alexander, if you have something on your mind, you can tell me. I'll listen. Please don't stay silent, okay?"

"You called me, so there must be something. Tell me what's going on, don't make me worry, okay?"

Madison's voice was choked with tears, "Alexander, say something, are you alright?"

"Madison, I'll send someone to pick you up. Come over."

"You want to see me?" Madison felt a surge of joy, "I'll come right away. I'll take a cab myself, you don't need to send anyone."

She couldn't wait to see Alexander.

Alexander lowered his eyes slightly and said faintly, "Alright then, I'm at my grandma's."

After saying that, he hung up the phone.

Madison was stunned.

Why would Alexander do that?

She thought he would insist on sending someone to pick her up.

Was he really okay with her coming alone so late at night?

Madison couldn't think too much about it. She grabbed her coat and was ready to leave.

Emily overheard Madison's call and wanted to go with her.

Madison refused. It was so late, and Alexander wanted to see her. How could she bring that idiot Emily along to disturb him?

Madison hailed a cab and arrived at Alexander's place.

After entering the hall, it was pitch dark.

She followed the lights along the corridor, feeling a bit scared.

"Alexander, are you in here?"

"I'm here." Alexander's eerie voice came from the darkness.

At that moment, the lights suddenly came on, illuminating the hall.

Madison saw Alexander sitting on the floor and immediately ran over, "Alexander, why are you sitting here? Get up."

Madison squatted down, holding his arm, trying to pull him up, but Alexander didn't move.

"Alexander, what's wrong?" Madison was terrified, "Please talk to me. What's going on?"

She thought, was he in so much pain that he wanted her to keep him company?

Alexander's pale face turned towards her, "Madison, what exactly happened today? Tell me the truth, okay?"

Madison's heart raced, and she forced herself to stay calm, "Alexander, today's incident was a misunderstanding. Ava was really upset, and maybe she dislikes me and Emily, so she misinterpreted our intentions."

"Is that so? Did she really misunderstand?"

Madison nodded, "Yes, Alexander, think about it. What reason would Emily and I have to harm Grandma? We have no reason at all. Even if you don't trust our character, harming Grandma would be a disaster for us. If we got caught, we'd be doomed. Why would we do that?"

"Yes." Alexander tugged at the corner of his mouth slightly, "Everything has a motive, and you two have none. But..."

Alexander suddenly grabbed Madison's hand, "Did Ava really mishear?"
