Chapter 577 Couldn't Touch You
Time passed quickly, and soon, it was the day of William's discharge from the hospital. He had been in the hospital for about twenty-five days, recovering well and only needing to rest properly afterward.
During this time, Ava had not gone to see Alexander. It seemed like everything between them had truly ended.
Upon reflection, this perspective did seem rather fitting.
Upon returning to the Bennett family, William saw the familiar surroundings and felt comforted. He vaguely remembered some things, but each memory was still fragmented.
Now that he could move freely and lead a normal life, William's mood improved greatly.
In the evening, after William finished showering and returned to his room, he saw Ava making the bed. Ava heard the movement behind her, turned around, and said, "William, the bed is ready for you. Come and rest."
Ava patted the corner of the bed and then stood up straight.
Just as she was about to leave, William suddenly hugged her and lowered his head to kiss her.
Startled, Ava quickly avoided his face and pushed his chest forcefully. "William, what are you doing?"
Seeing Ava's panicked expression, William furrowed his brow slightly and asked in confusion, "We are a couple. Why are you so nervous?"
Ava swallowed nervously, pushed him away quickly, and took a few steps back.
Seeing Ava so resistant, William's confusion deepened. "Ava, what's wrong? Did I do something wrong?"
"It's not that," Ava explained, "William, your body hasn't fully recovered yet. It would help if you rested properly. It's late already; you should sleep first, and I'll sleep next door."
After Ava finished speaking, William strode forward, grabbed her hand, and said, "Ava, don't go."
Forced to stop, Ava turned to look at William. "William, rest well."
"But I want to sleep with you." William held her shoulders, turned her body to face him, and asked, "Why are you afraid of me?"
"Ava, why are you rejecting me?" William's tone became serious. "Are you really worried about my health?"
"Of course, I'm concerned about your health," Ava explained, "William, please don't overthink it. I just..."
"Just what?" William interrupted her, "Ava, let me tell you the truth. I've felt like you've been avoiding me for some time now."
William expressed his grievances.
Ava awkwardly smiled. "I'm not avoiding you. Sometimes, I'm just a bit tired, so I want to be alone for a while. It's not because of you."
"Ava, you know what I'm talking about," William said with a sense of grievance, "I know taking care of me is hard for you, and it's okay if you want your own time. I understand you. But the problem isn't about you needing time alone; it's that every time I try to be intimate with you, when I want to kiss you or hug you, you avoid me. It seems like you don't want me to touch you, but you're my wife. Why can't I touch you?"
