Chapter 688 Do You Believe Me

Ava asked worriedly, "Will these tests harm my baby?"

The doctor reassured her, "Don't worry, these tests are very safe and routine. They won't cause any harm to you or the baby. We'll try to minimize unnecessary pain and discomfort."

Ava lowered her head, gently stroking her belly, her body starting to tremble.

Vicky wrapped an arm around her shoulders, comforting her softly, "With modern medicine so advanced today, both you and your baby will be fine. Let's go for the check-up."

Ava nodded and, with Vicky's support, left the consultation room.

Just as they opened the door, Ava saw William standing at the entrance, looking anxious. "Ava, how are you?"

Ava frowned. "What are you doing here?"

She quickly stepped forward and asked, "Have you found Alexander? Tell me where he is."

The anxious look on William's face gradually turned cold. He said, "I haven't found him yet. I came because I was worried about you."

Ava had been harboring a glimmer of hope, but hearing William's words, she immediately felt disappointed.

"Did you really go looking for him?" She doubted.

After all, he was her current husband. Would he really be willing to help her find her ex-husband?

"I've sent people to look for him," William said. "Trust me, I'm  just worried about you, so I came to check on you."

"How did you know I was at the hospital?" Ava turned her head to Vicky, saying, "Vicky, did you tell him?"

Vicky shook her head. "No, I didn't. I've been with you the whole time, I didn't even have my phone on me, you know that."

"It's not Vicky's fault," William explained. "I knew you didn't want to see me, so I asked Vicky to take care of you. I tried to avoid disturbing you, but I was really worried, so I've been secretly following you. I've been at the hospital the whole time you were having tests."

"Ava, I am genuinely concerned about you. I promise not to upset you again. I understand your worries about Alexander, and that's okay. I won't say anything upsetting. Please let me stay with you. The baby needs a father's presence."

Two tears rolled down Ava's cheeks. "But this isn't your baby; it's Alexander's baby."

"I don't care," William said, gripping her thin shoulders. "I'm your husband, and the baby in your belly is mine. Please, let me stay with you. If there's even a tiny bit of consideration for me in your heart, then please let me stay with you. Otherwise, I'll be worried sick, I'll fall apart."

Seeing the anxious look on William's face, Ava couldn't help but soften. She wiped away her tears and nodded.

William's heart leaped with joy. "Thank you. I'll accompany you for the check-up."

William gently wrapped his arm around Ava's shoulder, supporting her to leave.

He turned to Vicky and said, "Vicky, you can go home now. You've worked hard. I'll take care of Ava from here."

Vicky nodded, saying, "Alright then, I'll head back then. Call me if you need me."

Ava responded, "Thank you for running around with me. Go home and rest early."

After Vicky left, William attentively supported Ava and accompanied her throughout all the tests, never releasing her hand.

Onlookers couldn't help but feel envious, seeing such a striking man taking meticulous care of his wife.

But people only saw what was on the surface, making judgments with their simple perspectives, unaware of the real circumstances.

William used his connections to expedite the test results. So, not long after Ava finished the tests, the doctor got the results.
