Chapter 292: Two Faces

After knocking, Victoria didn't wait for a response; she pushed the door open and led Ava inside.

As soon as Victoria opened the door and entered, a burst of irate shouting came from inside, "Who let you in? Get out!"

The man sounded like a beast, emerging from the ground with such force that the earth seemed to shake.

Victoria stood frozen, scared out of her wits. Her eyes widened, and she tightened her grip on Ava's hand.

Ava was also stunned, the roar shaking her to her core.

Although she was there against her will, the sight of his raging fury was still shocking to her, like an earthquake that spares no one.

Everyone's gaze fell on the two women as they walked into the office. One was Miss Bennett; the other was a stranger.

If even Miss Bennett could get shouted at like this, they thought the other woman was surely doomed.

William Bennett's furious expression tensed for a moment. The rage in his eyes paused as soon as he saw Ava Anderson, like a button had been hit to freeze the frame.

Ava awkwardly tugged at the corner of her mouth, extracting her hand from Victoria's grip, and forced a strained smile, "Sorry for the inconvenience."

She turned to leave.

"Wait a minute," William Bennett called out to her!

Ava came to a stop, her footsteps halting. She turned her head and asked, "Is there something else?"
William Bennett quickly rounded his office desk and strode over to where Ava Anderson stood.

His gaze was a bit overstated, as if he had done something wrong and was at a loss, "Ava, what are you doing here?"

He hadn't realized Ava Anderson would be the one entering, and it never crossed his mind that she would show up here, of all places.

What was worse, she had just witnessed one of his less admirable moments!

"I..." Ava Anderson's heart raced with nervousness, unsure of how to respond.

Glancing around the office, she noticed several other people still standing there. "You seem busy, I don't want to disturb you—I should go."

Her palms were sweating with the tension of the moment. She shouldn't have come today.

Just as Ava was about to turn away, William quickly stepped in to block her path, "Wait, don't go. Ava, I wasn't angry at you, I thought someone else had come in to interrupt."

He was explaining to her, hoping she wouldn't be mad at him.

He must have scared her, judging by her expression.

Ava shook her head slightly, "It's okay, I know you're busy."

"Regardless, I'm sorry."

Facing Ava, William's demeanor softened significantly.

He had been upset today, even angry at Ava.

But now that he saw her, he was flustered.

Especially since his irritable nature had been laid bare for her to see.

She might be scared.

He feared she might change her opinion of him. In her eyes, he didn't want to be different from the William Bennett she knew.

When faced with someone that mattered, everyone wants to maintain a perfect image.

No one wants their faults exposed to someone they care about.

Victoria Bennett crossed her arms and said unhappily, "Brother, you apologize to her but not to me—even though you were the one who yelled at me."

"Shut it!" William turned his head, his eyes fierce with annoyance.

Victoria felt a shiver in her heart, "Why so harsh?"

But she muttered quietly to herself, not daring to raise her voice for fear of being scolded again.

Though William was scolding Victoria, those around them still felt a chill down their spines.

However, when William faced Ava again, his attitude did a complete one-eighty, as if he were a man with two different faces.
