Chapter 1024 Be Careful
He clutched the magazine, flipping through the pages without actually reading a word.
Ava also felt suffocated.
"William. I'm hanging up. I need to rest," she said, her voice trembling.
She was afraid she'd lose it if she kept talking.
"Alright," William replied, holding Sunny's tiny hand and waving it gently. "Sunny, say goodbye to Mommy."
"Goodbye, Sunny," Ava waved at the camera, her heart aching.
Thinking about Sunny made her feel even worse.
Sunny's real dad was right there, but he couldn't say a word.
After a bit, she and William ended the video call.
Ava set her phone aside and covered her mouth, sobbing.
She felt completely overwhelmed. So much had happened lately.
First, Alexander showed up in Stellaria with his pregnant girlfriend.
Then there was the whole mess with Vincent, and William lied to her and ran back home with Sunny.
Each thing alone was tough, and all together, it was too much for Ava to handle.
Seeing her cry, Alexander rushed to her side, "What's wrong?"
Ava wiped her tears and shook her head, "Nothing, just worried about Sunny."
Alexander tried to comfort her, "Sunny's safe with his dad. Don't worry."
Ava didn't know what to say.
She couldn't blame Alexander; he didn't know Sunny was his son. And with everything going on, she didn't dare tell him the truth.
If she had told Alexander from the start, would things be different?
But back then, Alexander wanted a divorce because of Isabella.
Ava looked up, "William will take care of Sunny. He said he won't be coming to Stellaria anytime soon."
She added, "Actually, he said he'll never come back to Stellaria."
Alexander had overheard Ava's conversation with William. He thought William was pretty tough, acting like nothing happened.
Ava sighed, "I'm going to sleep now."
Alexander didn't push her any further.
Meanwhile, after hanging up, William held Sunny close.
"Sunny, your mom's lying. She's in a hospital room and didn't tell me. And I'm pretty sure Alexander's with her, but she didn't mention him."
He continued, "Sunny, how could your mom lie to me like this? I just got back, and she's already with Alexander."
"No, that's not it," William held Sunny tighter. "It must be Alexander clinging to her. It's all his fault, not your mom's."
"Sunny, don't worry. I won't let anyone take your mom away. Our family will stay together, no matter what."
"I'm just dealing with some stuff right now and have to stay here, but I'll sort it out eventually."
"I was stupid to get caught by Alexander. But next time, I'll be more careful."
