Chapter 581 Forgetting Temporarily
Ava returned to the adjacent room and took a shower. By the time she got back into bed and glanced at her phone, she saw a message.
Tapping to view it, she realized it was from Eason.
Eason: [Ava, are you asleep?]
Ava replied: [Was just about to sleep. What's up?]
Eason: [Nothing much. I just wanted to say good night. By the way, I joined a new research team.]
Ava replied: [That's great. Congrats!]
Eason: [Ava, I've been wanting to treat you to a meal but never got the chance. How's your husband? Is he better?]
Ava: [Yeah, he's been discharged and is recovering well.]
Eason: [That's good to hear. You must've been exhausted lately. Make sure to get some rest.]
Ava: [It's okay. It's all been worth it. Things are getting better now.]
Eason: [Let's hope there are no more such disheartening accidents.]
Ava: [Yeah, but life is full of setbacks. Let's just focus on the present and cherish those who care about us.]
Eason: [Absolutely, I totally agree with you. I will always cherish you because you care most about me.]
Ava smiled slightly and replied: [Eason, you will meet someone you care about and cares about you one day.]
Eason was silent for a long time before finally replying: [I hope you're right. But for now, I only focus on you because you're the best.]
Ava smiled helplessly and replied: [It's late. You should sleep, and so should I.]
Eason: [Okay, goodnight.]
After lying down and getting ready to sleep, Ava's mind was a whirlwind of thoughts.
She lay on her back, gently cradling her belly and whispering, "My dear child, what should I do? Should I muddle through life, or should I take some initiative? Apparently, the things I do only make things worse."
Recalling the things that had happened, Ava couldn't help but close her eyes in exhaustion.
She felt exhausted and decided to sleep for now. After a good night's rest, everything would be fine, and even if not, she could at least momentarily forget them.
Three days after William was discharged, Isabella was discharged, too.
Isabella received a message from Alexander, who told her that he would visit her today.
It had been a long time since Alexander last visited her. He said he had to go on a business trip, but she was doubtful. Nonetheless, she had no choice except to send him messages frequently to express her concern.
However, Alexander's responses either took way too long or were simply indifferent.
This time, Isabella was absolutely overjoyed to hear that Alexander was about to visit him. To celebrate such a rare occasion, she had someone do her makeup and even finally put on the wedding dress that he had gifted her.
For some reason, not long after he gave this wedding dress to her, he intended to have someone take away the box that came with it, but she insisted on keeping it, so the dress had been stored in the same box until this day.
Isabella put on the wedding dress and sat on the hospital bed, frequently checking the time.
When the door opened and Alexander walked in, she pounced right into his arms.
"Alex!"
Stunned by Isabella's sudden enthusiasm, Alexander froze for a moment. Then, he gently placed his hands on her shoulders and pushed her away.
He sized Isabella up, and seeing her in the wedding dress, he frowned. "Why did you put this on?"
