Chapter 891 She Was Acting Weird
But deep down, he felt super bad for her. How could he pile on more pain when she was already going through so much?
She'd just had a baby two months ago and was still not in great shape. The doc had told him they couldn't get back to business for at least three months.
He could wait, no problem, but he didn't want to mess up her recovery.
So, he just held Ava close.
Ava cried in his arms for what felt like forever until she was so wiped out that she fell asleep without even knowing it.
After a bit, William saw she was out cold. He gently let her go, got out of bed, and headed to the bathroom to wet a warm towel. He came back and softly wiped her face.
He moved super carefully, not wanting to wake her up.
Seeing Ava's puffy face from all the crying, his heart just broke. Even in her sleep, she was frowning like she was having a nightmare, her breathing all shaky.
'Alexander, why'd you have to come mess with our lives? You're clearly up to no good!' he thought, annoyed.
Luckily, he knew Alexander was coming and had a plan. Otherwise, who knew what kind of mess Alexander would've caused.
Just last night, William got a call from Mia.
When he picked up, he was confused and kinda annoyed. "Ms. Thompson, why are you calling me?"
"I'm calling because I have something to tell you, something that can help you."
"Help me?" William scoffed, "Ms. Thompson, what's your deal? Why would you help me? We're basically enemies."
Mia gave a bitter laugh. "If I said I don't see you as an enemy, would you believe me?"
"Does it even matter if I believe you? We are enemies. I still remember the stuff you said to me."
Mia went quiet on the other end.
"If there's nothing else, I'm hanging up." William was done talking to her.
"Wait." Mia stopped him, "I have something important to tell you."
"Spit it out."
"Alexander is heading to Stellaria to find Ava."
"What did you say?" William's brows shot up, and his face got serious. "Is it true?"
"Absolutely, I'm not lying. His girlfriend told me. So you need to get ready. Alexander doesn't know yet that Ava had a kid with him. If he finds out, he'll do whatever it takes to take the kid and Ava back. You two will definitely clash."
William shot back, "Since he's coming, he'll find out Ava had his kid. How do we stop that? Since you called, you must have a plan."
"Don't let Alexander know the kid is his. You are the kid's dad. Even if Alexander sees the kid, you gotta stick to that."
William sneered, "Even if I stick to it, Ava will definitely tell him."
"Then don't give Ava the chance to tell him. William, you're smart. You know what to do. If you mess up, you'll lose Ava."
"How do I know you're not lying? Is this a trap?"
"If I wanted to trap you, why would I tell you this? William, whether you believe it or not, everything I said is true and I don't want to hurt you."
"You might not want to hurt me, but you're hurting your own son." William said coldly. "What's your real motive?"
Mia was acting real weird, not helping her own son but helping him, her enemy.
The more he thought about it, the sketchier it seemed.
