Chapter 1118 Truths and Lies
"Ava's here, Ava."
Hearing that Ava had arrived, Scarlett was overjoyed and went downstairs with the help of the butler to greet her.
"Ava."
"Grandma."
Ava stepped forward to hug her, unable to hold back her tears.
Scarlett was very happy to see Ava. "Ava, you finally came. I haven't seen you in so long. I missed you so much."
Scarlett always felt like she hadn't seen her in ages and that she had forgotten something important. Her mind was getting worse.
"Grandma, I'm sorry. If you want to see me, I can come visit you often from now on."
She had thought Scarlett would never remember her and would always mistake Madison for her.
"Good, then come visit Grandma often. I'm getting old and don't know how much longer I'll live. Every visit counts."
"Grandma, please don't say that," Ava felt very sad. "You could live to be a hundred."
Scarlett held Ava's hand tightly. "I also want to live to be a hundred, to see you and Alexander have your children. I want to hold my great-grandchild."
Madison saw how close Scarlett and Ava were and felt very angry and resentful. She had been humbling herself for so long, and now Scarlett only recognized Ava.
Alexander stepped forward, and Sunny made a sound.
Scarlett turned her head and was shocked to see Sunny in Alexander's arms. "This, this child is?"
Alexander said, "Grandma, this child..."
"Grandma, did you forget?" Ava interrupted Alexander, immediately taking Sunny from his arms. "Alexander and I have been married for a long time. This is our child."
Alexander was shocked to hear this and looked at Ava, feeling a surge of strong emotions.
For a moment, he felt that what Ava said was true, that this really was their child. But then he saw Scarlett and understood that Ava was trying to make Scarlett happy.
Scarlett now had dementia and was confused. She didn't know anything. Saying this to make her happy didn't cause any harm.
Madison and Emily's faces turned extremely ugly.
Scarlett was both surprised and delighted to hear this. "Really? You and Alexander already have a child."
Ava said, "Yes, Grandma, look how cute he is. His name is Sunny."
"Sunny." Scarlett reached out her aged hand to gently stroke Sunny's little face. "I have a great-grandson now. This is your and Alexander's child."
"Yes, Grandma."
"Let me hold him, let me hold him."
"Okay, Grandma, you hold him."
Ava handed Sunny to Scarlett with tears in her eyes.
She had originally planned to follow Alexander's suggestion and tell Scarlett that this was her friend's child and she was helping to take care of him.
But seeing Scarlett's eager expression, she couldn't help but tell her the truth.
Although she was telling the truth, Alexander didn't believe it was the truth.
Maybe one day she would tell Alexander the truth, but not in this setting.
At this moment, nothing else mattered. What mattered was that Scarlett believed it was true.
Scarlett held Sunny in her arms and moved to tears. "You and Alexander have a child now. I've been waiting and waiting, and finally, in my lifetime, I get to hold my great-grandson."
Scarlett sat on the sofa with Sunny in her arms, being very careful and afraid of dropping him.
Ava took a step back to let Scarlett and Sunny have some alone time.
She turned her head to look at Alexander, who was also looking at her. Their eyes met, and a complex emotion surged between them.
