Chapter 795 His Request
Mia said, "Ava, you've been planning to leave since you divorced Alexander. But you've been stalling, and now everything's a mess. You should go out and relax."
Ava replied, "Mom, how can I leave now?"
Mia countered, "Why not? If you're worried about Grandma, don't be. George and I will take care of her. Alexander doesn't even visit her anymore because she forgets who he is."
Ava added, "But Mom..."
"Ava," Mia interrupted, "I'll keep you updated on Grandma. If anything happens, I'll call you. This place isn't safe; the kidnapper who took you is still out there. You should stay abroad for a while, especially since you're pregnant."
Ava said, "But I promised Grandma she'd be the first to see my baby."
Mia continued, "She won't remember that. If you show her a baby, she won't recall. Ava, don't be stubborn. Go out and relax. I'll handle everything here, and I want you to study abroad."
Ava questioned, "Study?"
Mia explained, "Yes, your major is finance. I want you to further your studies abroad. Ava, you need to improve yourself and see more of the world. Don't worry about Mia."
William sat in the car, waiting, but his patience was wearing thin.
He was getting worried.
William thought, 'What is Mia saying to Ava? Is she badmouthing me?'
Even though Mia had agreed to his request, he wasn't sure if she'd keep her promise.
No one in the Mitchell family could be trusted.
Just as William was about to get out of the car, Ava walked towards him.
William opened the car door. "Ava, are you done talking?"
Ava's eyes were red.
William asked, "Ava, have you been crying?"
Ava replied, "It's nothing. Let's go home."
Ava sat in the passenger seat.
William wanted to ask more but didn't want to annoy Ava, so he stayed quiet and drove her back.
Late at night.
Ava lay in bed, eyes closed, her mind racing.
William opened the door and saw that Ava was asleep. He sighed and left.
He went to the study, took out his phone, and dialed a number. When the call connected, he said, "How's that thing I asked you to do going?"
Hearing the response, William coldly said, "Speed it up. I'll give you another forty-eight hours. If you can't get it done, you'll face the consequences."
With that, William hung up the phone.
He propped his head up with one hand and sighed deeply, feeling exhausted.
Just then, his phone rang again.
Seeing the familiar number, William answered, "Hello."
The other side of the phone said, "Mr. Bennett, how's the task going?"
William replied, "I'm working on it. I was just pushing for progress."
The other side of the phone questioned, "Is that so? Well, you'd better hurry. I don't have much patience."
William clenched his fist and said, "I don't have much patience either. Once I get this done, don't bother me again, and don't think about threatening me anymore."
The other side of the phone continued, "I'm a man of my word. As long as you get my task done, that's it. Good night, Mr. Bennett."
With that, the other party hung up.
With a loud noise, William slammed his phone onto the desk.
It was the kidnapper who had taken Ava.
He had been constantly calling and threatening him.
But recently, the kidnapper had finally made a demand.
The kidnapper asked him to purchase SkyLabs.
SkyLabs was a well-known company with good growth prospects. Upon deeper investigation, the actual controller of the company was someone with the last name Harrington, who turned out to be Isabella's father.
Isabella, as William knew, was Alexander's mistress.
William had people follow the Harringtons, including Isabella, but found nothing suspicious.
Then, he received a warning call from the kidnapper, telling him to stop playing tricks.
The kidnapper knew he was sending someone to follow Isabella.
Every move he made was exposed to the kidnapper. He even worried if he had surveillance installed in his house.
William had professionals check his place for surveillance devices but found none. Yet, he was still under the kidnapper's watch.
Now he was in a passive position, especially since the kidnapper had incriminating videos. William couldn't act rashly and had to follow the kidnapper's demand to purchase SkyLabs.
William thought, 'The kidnapper must want the company, which is why he made this demand. When the time comes, he will demand that he transfer his company shares. I might be able to find the kidnapper through the paperwork.'
