Chapter 574 I Didn't Believe

Ava couldn't possibly take care of Evelyn here all the time, so she took out her phone and called to have a caregiver come and look after her.

Just as she was about to leave the ward, Evelyn seemed to see Ava. "Ava, Ava!"

Ava had to stop in her tracks and reluctantly walked into the ward.

"Ava, it's me. Do you still recognize me?" Evelyn reached out her hand to her. "I'm your aunt."

Ava sighed. After she reached the bedside, Evelyn was very excited.

"Ava, it's so good to meet you here. I thought I would never see you again," Evelyn said.

Ava looked at her calmly, "The caregiver will come to take care of you later, and I've already paid for the expenses."

"Okay," Evelyn exclaimed, "Ava, I knew you were a good kid. If I hadn't met you here, I wouldn't know what to do. Can you sit here and chat with me?"

Ava furrowed her brows. "No, I have things to do. I have to leave first. You rest well, and I don't plan to see you often. You can leave the hospital after you recover."

After that, Ava turned to leave.

"Wait," Evelyn called out to her.

Ava turned around. "Is there something else?"

"Ava, we haven't seen each other for so many years. Can you chat with me for a while? Is it appropriate for you to leave like this? Don't you even want to ask me why I got hurt?"

Ava sneered. "Was it appropriate for you to leave me at the SK Group gate back then? And as for why did you get hurt? I am not interested to know."

Evelyn smiled, awkwardly chuckling. "Now, I know I didn't handle that situation well, but if you look at it from a different perspective, it's a good thing I left you there. Otherwise, how would the Mitchell family have adopted you? They raised you so well, and you even married their grandson, you're living a life of luxury now."

Ava furrowed her brows slightly, looking puzzled. "How do you know all this?"

Ava didn't think that after Evelyn left her at the SK Group gate, she would still keep track of her affairs. Evelyn was someone who avoided trouble; surely, she would have just left her there and moved on, out of sight, out of mind. How could she possibly have paid attention to so many things afterward?

"Come on, don't say that." Evelyn laughed nervously. "I couldn't have really ignored you. Although I left you at the SK Group gate back then, I was very worried about you. I secretly kept an eye on you, so..."

"I don't believe what you're saying," Ava interrupted her, "I simply don't believe you're that kind of person."

"It's true, I'm not lying to you," Evelyn insisted.

"No, you're lying to me," Ava said sternly, "I know. Did you come back to find me later?"

"Yes, yes, yes," Evelyn said, "I did come to find you. That's how I knew. You see, I do care about you. I wouldn't just abandon you. I saw that the Mitchell family adopted you, so I didn't come looking for you again."

"That's not what I mean," Ava said, "What I mean is, did you come back to find me later? Was it a long time after? Did you go to see Grandma?"

"Well..." Evelyn chuckled awkwardly. "Ava, I care about you, so I went to check on the situation. I was afraid you weren't doing well with the Mitchell family, so I..."
