Chapter 1189 Something's Fishy
"You, what do you want?" Evelyn's face was pale.
Ava sighed, "Forget it, teaching her a lesson is useless, don't dirty your hands. Evelyn, is there anything else you haven't told me?"
Evelyn said, "I've told you everything I know, I really don't know anything else. I'm not your parents, I definitely don't know as much as they do."
Ava looked at Evelyn, who didn't seem to be lying. She turned her head to Bishop and asked, "Bishop, what do you think?"
Bishop stared at Evelyn for a while, then said, "She should have said everything."
"Really, I'm not lying to you." Evelyn extended her hand, "If I'm lying, may I die a horrible death. You two should go to that Starhaven and look for that orphanage, I really don't know anything else."
"I will go, but Evelyn, I have to warn you, if I find out you're lying, I will find you and make you pay." Ava's eyes rarely showed such a fierce look.
"So, can I go now?" Evelyn quickly stood up, "Then I'll be leaving."
Evelyn took off running.
Ava didn't want to chase her.
Bishop took out his phone, searched the map, and said, "Ava, the place Evelyn mentioned has two orphanages. Let's go see if there are any other clues."
Ava nodded in agreement.
The two set off for Starhaven, where there were two orphanages. One had been open for less than ten years.
The other had been open for twenty-five years.
They headed straight for the older orphanage and had a conversation with the director.
Every orphan had a file, and there were records of those who had been adopted.
The director took Ava to the archive room.
The archive room was large, with many shelves filled with information about the orphans. After searching for a long time, they finally found Ava's file.
The file showed that Ava had been abandoned at the orphanage and was later adopted. The people who adopted her were indeed her adoptive parents. There was no more information.
Ava specifically asked about the bracelet, but too much time had passed, and the director couldn't remember. The file also didn't mention Ava wearing a bracelet.
After a thorough inquiry, they obtained all the information they could and left the orphanage.
Ava felt dizzy and was in a bad mood.
Bishop, holding Sunny, followed behind her. Seeing Ava stop, he walked up and said, "I believe we will find the information."
Ava smiled bitterly, "Actually, whether we find it or not, the outcome won't change. My biological parents abandoned me. Even if we find out who they are, so what? They didn't want me; otherwise, why would they abandon me?"
"Ava, I think there might be more to this."
"More to this?" Ava looked up and asked, "What do you mean?"
"Evelyn said you had a valuable bracelet at the time. If your parents really didn't want you and abandoned you, why would they leave you with such a valuable bracelet? If your bracelet was really valuable, it means your parents weren't ordinary people. If they weren't ordinary, why couldn't they afford to raise you? The orphanage staff said you were abandoned there. If you were abandoned with such a valuable bracelet, wouldn't the staff have taken it? Why would they give it to your adoptive parents?"
If Ava had really been abandoned and was just a baby with a valuable bracelet, Bishop didn't believe the bracelet wouldn't have been stolen.
"What you said makes sense." Ava thought for a while and said, "Is it possible that Evelyn lied to me and there was no bracelet?"
"She didn't seem to be lying." Bishop said, "She had no reason to make up the bracelet story. If your parents really hid the bracelet at home, we should check it out."
"After my parents died, Evelyn became a heavy gambler. The house was sold long ago."
Bishop said, "When we were at the orphanage, I checked on that house. It's now in a state of pending demolition, and no one lives there. The person who bought it bought the whole building for investment and didn't live there. So, your parents' house might not have been touched."
Ava's eyes lit up, "You actually checked that."
Bishop smiled gently, "We need to find new clues, so I checked. I didn't expect to get this good news. Shall we go take a look?"
Ava agreed, "Okay."
