Chapter 828 Don't Be Stubborn

Brandon nodded. "Go ahead."

Mia grabbed her phone and stepped out of the room, answering impatiently, "What now?"

"Your necklace is at my place. Where are you? I'll bring it to you," Dalton's gentle voice came through.

Mia gripped her phone tightly, silent for a moment before saying, "What will it take for you to leave me alone?"

Dalton had been blackmailing her for a while.

He had raped her and recorded it.

At first, Mia resisted, but as he forced her more, she became numb and stopped fighting back.

Dalton edited the footage to make it look like she was cooperating.

He threatened to show the video to the Mitchell family.

Dalton didn't care about the consequences, but Mia feared the fallout for her family.

She didn't mind suffering, but she worried about a conflict between the Mitchell and Bennett families.

So when Dalton demanded to see her, Mia complied.

If her body could protect her family, she didn't mind. She had endured a lot in her life and was strong enough to endure this ordeal.

"Isn't this fine? Mia, I've compromised. I'm not asking you to marry me, but you have to spend time with me. I can't let George have you all to himself."

Mia said, "Dalton, don't push it. If you push me too far..."

"Want to know about William?" Dalton interrupted. "Don't you care how he's doing abroad?"

Mia clenched her fist. "He's your son. Why would I care?"

"Sweetie, don't be stubborn. I know you miss William. You don't even tell him you're his mother. He's doing well abroad with Ava. By the way, Ava had a baby boy. Did you know that?"

Mia closed her eyes, her nails digging into her palm. "Are you done yet?"

Dalton replied, "Just updating you on William. I'll keep the necklace for now. Come to my place tonight to get it."

Mia angrily hung up.

She composed herself at the door, trying to look calm.

Mia entered the room with a smile.

"Sorry to keep you waiting, Mr. Smith."

She put her phone aside and sat down.

Mia's phone buzzed with a message from Dalton, a photo of them in bed.

Seeing the photo, Mia frowned, her eyes filled with anger.

But with Brandon there, she couldn't show it. She swallowed her anger, put the phone aside, and forced a smile.

Brandon noticed her subtle expression.

Sensing something was off, he asked, "What happened? Who called you?"

Mia smiled faintly, "Just work stuff, no big deal."

Seeing she didn't want to talk, Brandon didn't press further.

"Can I call you Mia?" Brandon suddenly asked.

Mia smiled faintly, "Sure."
