Chapter 863 Extremely Nervous

A few days later, Mia and Madison were chillin' at a table inside this swanky restaurant.

The waiter rolled up with the menu.

Madison, sitting across from Mia, was a bundle of nerves.

Last time they talked, Mia had called her up to say Alexander had an accident and asked her to swing by the hospital.

Madison had freaked out and rushed over. She didn't even see Mia, just talked on the phone.

Outta nowhere, a week later, Mia hit her up again and asked to meet.

Madison had never been to such a fancy joint before, and she was kinda freaking out.

But what really had her sweating was sitting across from Alexander's mom.

Mia was drop-dead gorgeous, and everything she did was so classy. No wonder Alexander was such a looker with a mom like that.

Seeing Mia, Madison wasn't even worried about getting old. If you could look that good at forty or fifty, who cares?

Mia's beauty had that extra something that only came with age.

Noticing Madison's nerves, Mia said, "Madison, order whatever you want. It's on me."

"Ms. Thompson, I can't let you do that," Madison replied.

"Don't be so formal. I owe you for last time. You rushed to see Alexander as soon as I called. This is just my way of saying thanks. If you're cool with it, I'll order for us," Mia said.

"Ms. Thompson, I'm not picky. Go ahead and order. This menu's got some fancy names I can't even pronounce."

"Alright, I'll handle it."

Mia picked out some dishes and handed the menu back to the waiter.

After the waiter left, Mia gave Madison a once-over, like she was trying to figure her out.

Madison felt super awkward under Mia's gaze. She looked down, her face turning red, worried Mia might not like her.

Her mind was racing with all sorts of scenarios.

Mia picked up on Madison's nerves and smiled, saying, "No need to be so tense. I just wanted to have a meal with you, nothing more."

"Ms. Thompson, is there something you wanna tell me?"

Seeing Madison's anxious look, Mia saw a bit of Ava in her. She looked just like Ava did when she first came to the Mitchell family—nervous and shy, like a little rabbit lost in a big, scary world.

"Relax, even if I have something to say, it's not gonna be anything bad. I'm not here to criticize you or tell you to stay away from Alexander. If I wanted that, I wouldn't have called you to visit him last time." Mia's tone was as gentle as could be. She got where Madison was coming from.

Hearing this, Madison let out a sigh of relief.

"Madison, can I call you that? Is it cool?"

"Of course," Madison said quickly. "Call me whatever you want."

"Great, Madison it is. Calling you Ms. Allen feels too stiff, especially with your connection to Alexander. I think it's nice. You should come over to our place more often," Mia said.
