Chapter 462 Blocking the Way

In the hospital rest area, Vicky found a quiet spot to sit down with Ava.

Ava looked worried, her eyes filled with gloom.

Vicky sat beside her and gently patted her shoulder. "Ava, no matter what happens, you should remember that William would want you to be okay."

"Vicky, have you already prepared for the worst?"

Vicky sighed, "Sometimes we have to face reality."

"If that's how you feel, should we let William go save someone else?"

While Ava wished to cling to this faint hope, deep down she also knew that hope was scarce.

Vicky shook her head. "I don't know either. If I were you, I would be torn too. I hope William can wake up, but look at him now..."

"Ava, I hope for a miracle too. However, right now, I wish your parents were here. After all, my marriage to William isn't real. It feels unjust for William to have this decision solely in my hands."

"Ava, don't think like that." Vicky held her hand. "You two are legally married. Since my parents aren't here, only you can make the decision. You've been doing a great job protecting my brother, not letting others influence you."

"And you," Ava said, "You are his sister."

"I am indeed his sister, but I come after you. You are his wife, the main decision lies with you. If you disagree, my agreement is useless. Conversely, if you agree and I don't, it's also futile."

"If neither I nor your parents were present, granting you this autonomy, how would you choose to proceed?" Ava inquired.

"Let's not think about that for now. Let's wait and see. That's all we can do for now." Vicky stood up. "Wait here for a moment. I'll get you something to eat."

"It's okay. I'm not hungry."

"If you don't eat, your child in your belly will suffer. Fill your stomach first, and gather your strength before deciding on William's matter."

"Alright then." Ava nodded.

Vicky went to buy food for her, while Ava weakly rested her head on the table.

"Oh God, please, can you let William wake up? He's a good person. He shouldn't be like this, please!"

"Are you William's wife?" A woman's voice came from beside her.

Ava turned around and saw a middle-aged woman approaching her.

Ava suddenly felt uneasy, as if she had guessed something.

Before Ava could answer, the woman was already by her side.

"Ava, I heard that your husband has no hope of waking up now."

Indeed, Ava's thoughts were accurate. Surely the woman had come to seek her signature of consent, but how did these relatives manage to locate her?

According to regulations, doctors were not allowed to disclose information about donors. If it wasn't the doctor who revealed it, how did the family members waiting for the transplant find her?

Ava said, "I'm sorry. I don't want to talk about this right now."

"Ava, my husband has been waiting for a liver for several years now. We finally found a match, and his life is hanging by a thread. Since your husband is almost at the end, can you save my husband? Please, I beg you!"

This woman came up with a victimized look, tears in her eyes, making Ava very uncomfortable. She felt this was a form of emotional blackmail.

She stood up, about to leave. However, then several more people came towards her.

Ava tried to leave, but they blocked her way.
