Chapter 346 A Heart Full of Love
William found himself at a loss for words as he watched Ava's fervent attempts to play matchmaker between him and Elinor. Ava's enthusiasm, which was usually reserved, was surprisingly directed towards this particular endeavor.
"You could ask Elinor out," Ava proposed, already thinking of a solution. "Suggest that the four of us have dinner together."
"The four of us?" William echoed, perplexed. "Who else would be there?"
"Elinor and you, Vicky and me," Ava explained, her gaze on William questioning why he was so slow to comprehend.
"The four of us together?" William repeated, his confusion deepening. "Why?"
"If you invite her out alone, she might feel it's a date. But if you invite her out with friends, it's a different story. Besides, we're all girls, so she'll be more at ease. Didn't you mention she recently went through a breakup?" Ava reasoned.
"Um... yes, but will it really work that way?" William responded, his mind racing. The crux of the matter was that Elinor didn't exist. She was a figment of his imagination. Who was he supposed to message?
"William, why are you so timid? You need to be more assertive. It's settled then. Tomorrow at noon, you'll ask Elinor out. I'm just curious to see what the girl you fancy looks like," Ava declared, her tone resolute.
William hadn't anticipated this turn of events. His long-awaited opportunity to spend time alone with Ava was suddenly interrupted by the imaginary Elinor. The irony was that Elinor was his own fabrication!
"What's the matter? Don't you want to?" Ava questioned, her brow furrowing slightly at William's hesitation. "If you're not interested, then forget it. I thought you genuinely wanted my advice. But it seems you're not inclined to heed my suggestions." Ava sighed, her disappointment palpable.
"No," William quickly interjected, fearing Ava's anger. "I'm just worried about inconveniencing you."
"Why would you be a bother? I don't mind at all. What are you concerned about? I just wanted to make new friends, and the girl you like must be exceptional," Ava countered, a sudden urge to see William fall in love, marry, and start a family washing over her. She couldn't pinpoint the origin of this desire, but it was there, and it was potent. It was as if she could only find peace once William found love.
"Yes, she is exceptional," William admitted, his guilt and nervousness mounting. 'Fool, the girl is you. There has never been an Elinor, only Ava from the start. What do you make of that?' William chuckled awkwardly. He didn't want to let Ava down. If he rejected her proposal, Ava would undoubtedly be upset, and she might even grow suspicious of him.
Ava, in many ways, was a highly perceptive woman. She had an uncanny ability to discern things that others overlooked, like the situation with the Wisdom Future Group.
Moreover, Ava's enthusiasm this time was infectious. Even though she was trying to pair him with another girl, William wanted to fulfill Ava's wish, if only to see her happy.
As long as Ava was content, so was William.
"Alright, I'll try to ask her out," he finally conceded.
Ava nodded approvingly. "Good. You need to gather your courage. Someone has to make the first move in a relationship. If neither of you takes the initiative, how can you possibly end up together?"
Ava's thoughts drifted to her relationship with Alexander.
Alexander had always been out of her reach, a figure to be admired from a distance. Every time she gazed into Alexander's eyes, they were brimming with love, but it wasn't for her.
Alexander's heart belonged to Isabella, and it was only Isabella he would reach out to.
