Chapter 1140 Is It Him?

After Ava helped Bishop to the bed and let him lie down, she said, "You rest well. You can stay here as long as you need to heal."

She picked up the blanket and covered him.

"Bishop, how long were you waiting for me at my door?"

Bishop smiled, "Not long."

He had waited for her for hours, knowing she was busy and not wanting to disturb her, so he waited alone.

"Why didn't you call me before you came? If you had called me earlier, I would have come back sooner."

He was still injured, yet he waited at her door.

She felt that he had waited a long time.

"I originally wanted to come to you after I healed, but I didn't know how long it would take. I wanted to tell you this quickly because I was worried about you. I wanted you to think if there was anyone suspicious around you."

"I can't think of anyone suspicious. By the way, Alexander lied to me before, saying he had stomach cancer. I really believed it. Later, I received an email with Alexander's medical report. I don't know who sent it."

"Can I see that email again?" Bishop asked.

"Sure, wait a moment." Ava got up to get her phone.

After a while, she came back, found the email, and handed the phone to Bishop.

Bishop looked at the content and frowned slightly, "I can help you check the sender and see if we can find anything."

"Okay, please help me check. I'm also curious about who sent this email to me and why it was sent to my phone. Now that I hear what you've been through, this email might be related to that person."

If that was the case, at least Alexander could be ruled out.

Bishop responded, "Ava, don't trust anyone around you. Be cautious with everyone, even me, okay?"

Ava wanted to say she trusted Bishop, but to reassure him, she nodded, "Okay, I trust you. I'll be cautious with everyone I meet from now on."

Bishop was about to tell her to go rest when a phone rang.

Bishop saw the caller ID on the screen: Alexander.

"I'll take this call." Ava answered the phone, "Hello."

"Ava, I've arrived at the hotel."

Ava responded softly, "Since you're at the hotel, get some rest. By the way, you didn't eat anything tonight. Have something to eat before you sleep, but not too much."

"Okay, I got it. I'll eat something before I sleep."

At that moment, Bishop suddenly coughed into his fist, causing a sharp pain to shoot through his wound. He frowned, turned over, and covered his mouth with his hand.

Hearing the cough, Alexander frowned, "Why is there a man's voice?"

"Bishop came to see me. He's staying over because he's sick and coughing."

Ava didn't plan to hide it from Alexander. There was nothing to hide. She and Alexander had nothing to do with each other now, so she had no reason to feel guilty.

On the other end of the phone, Alexander was silent for a long time.

Ava said, "Alexander, if there's nothing else, I'll hang up now. I need to sleep early."

"Alright, you sleep." Alexander didn't hang up but waited for Ava.

After a few seconds, Ava hung up the phone.

"Sorry," Bishop said, "My throat suddenly got itchy, and I couldn't hold it in."

He pressed his fist to his lips and coughed a few more times.

He had tried to hold it in, but he couldn't.

"It's okay. It's fine if he knows you're here. If he really wants to harm you, I'll stop him."

"Maybe it's not him," Bishop said, "The email you received was clearly meant to drive a wedge between you and Alexander. If the person who sent the email is the same person who wants to kill me, then it's not Alexander."

Ava said, "We haven't figured everything out yet. Whether it's him or not, we need to find evidence first. You should rest now."

Bishop responded softly and watched Ava leave the room.
