Chapter 379 The Handsome Guy

Ava's world was spinning, her legs unsteady beneath her. She needed support, and gratefully, she extended her hand towards the young man who had offered his assistance.

With a gentle touch, he helped her rise from the ground, his actions considerate and respectful. However, as she regained her footing, her head continued to whirl, and she swayed dangerously. Swiftly, the young man caught her arm, steadying her. "Miss," he said, "allow me to escort you to that bench over there. You need to rest."

Not far from them, a bench beckoned invitingly. Ava, unable to muster the strength to protest, merely nodded her agreement.

Once they were seated, the young man proffered a bottle of water. "Miss, please, have a drink."

Ava's instinct was to refuse, despite the parched feeling in her throat. "No, thank you," she managed to croak out.

The young man's gaze was earnest, his eyes shining with sincerity. "Please, don't be afraid. I mean you no harm. I live here too, and this water is freshly bought from the convenience store, still sealed. You look thirsty, and your lips are cracked. Please, have a sip."

There was something about attractive people that engendered trust. This young man was strikingly handsome, his eyes clear and vibrant, his physique tall and muscular. He radiated a warmth and charm that was hard to resist.

His voice, especially when he addressed her as "Miss," was utterly captivating. Ava found herself imagining that if he were to ask, "Miss, could you lend me twenty dollars?" she would likely hand it over without a second thought.

Suddenly, Ava felt a strange compulsion. It was as if refusing him would cause him great disappointment. She nodded her assent, reaching out to take the water, but the young man pulled it back. Confused, she watched as he unscrewed the cap before offering it to her again. "Miss, the cap was a bit tight. I opened it for you."

His thoughtfulness was touching. Ava had no idea where this young man had come from, but she was grateful for his kindness. She accepted the water, its coolness soothing her dry lips and quenching her thirst. After taking a few sips, she recapped the bottle and asked, "How much do I owe you for the water?"

"No need, Miss. It's just a small gesture."

"But I insist. I should pay you."

Reaching into her pocket, Ava realized she had neither her phone nor any cash on her. The young man, seeing her predicament, removed his backpack and pulled out a pen and paper. He scribbled down a number and handed it to her. "Miss, this is my WhatsApp account. You can add me when you get home and transfer the money then."

Ava took the note and tucked it into her pocket, nodding her agreement. "Okay, I'll transfer it to you when I get home. I won't forget."

It wasn't about the cost of the water. It was about the principle of the matter. When you take something from someone, you should always repay them, even if it's just a small amount.

"Miss," the young man began, his voice hesitant, "you looked so sad when you were crying. Did something happen? You can tell me."

Ava managed a weak smile. "Nothing, I just tripped by accident."

"But I saw..."

The young man's voice trailed off, his gaze dropping to his hands. He seemed to want to say something more, but he held back.

"What did you see?" Ava asked softly.
