Chapter 790 You Two Are Very Alike

William was driving Ava to Scarlett's house, but Mia changed the address last minute. So, they headed to a restaurant where Mia and Scarlett were waiting.

Ava, visibly pregnant, walked over and greeted, "Grandma."

Scarlett looked confused, "What did you call me?"

Mia had told Ava over the phone that Scarlett had Alzheimer's. It felt surreal to Ava, but seeing it firsthand made it real.

Mia stood up. "You two sit down."

She glanced at William with mixed emotions—no disgust, but a hint of happiness. William found it odd and unsettling. He suspected it had something to do with Dalton but doubted Dalton had threatened Mia. Mia wasn't easily intimidated.

William helped Ava into a chair. Ava said, "Grandma, it's me, Ava."

Scarlett laughed, "Don't joke. Ava's in middle school. You're much older and pregnant. How could you be Ava?"

Ava remembered Mia's instructions: don't agitate Scarlett, go along with her, and don't force her to remember. Otherwise, Scarlett might get a headache and realize she had Alzheimer's.

Holding back tears, Ava smiled, "You caught me. I just felt so close to you. Please don't be mad."

"Not at all," Scarlett said. "I feel close to you too. How many months pregnant are you?"

"Five months."

Mia looked at William, "This must be your husband. He's very considerate."

Before Ava could respond, William said, "She's my wife, of course, I'll be considerate. She's carrying my child."

He put his arm around Ava's shoulder. Ava wanted to pull away but decided against it.

Scarlett smiled, "You two seem to have a great relationship. When Alexander and Ava grow up and get married, I hope their relationship is as good as yours."

Ava nodded, holding back her sadness. "They will definitely be happy together."

Ava hadn't expected Scarlett to forget about her pregnancy. She remembered how happy Scarlett had been when she first found out.

"What's wrong?" Scarlett asked, seeing Ava's tears. "Why are you crying? Don't cry, it's not good for the baby."

"I'm not crying," Ava quickly wiped her tears.

William gently wiped her tears too, taking care of her.

Scarlett looked at Mia, then at William, puzzled. "Mia, why does he look a bit like you?"

Mia got flustered. "Mom, you must be mistaken."

"Really?" Scarlett turned to William. "What's your name?"

"I'm William."

"William," Scarlett nodded. "Nice name, and you're very good-looking. Your parents must be good-looking too."

William smiled politely. "Ava is the best-looking."

He looked at Ava with affection but noticed Mia's flustered reaction.

'Why did she get so flustered when Scarlett said I looked like her?' William wondered.
