Chapter 744 Even Worse
Vicky walked over and said, "Ava's still out cold. Why don't you grab a bite and then come back? If she wakes up and finds out you haven't eaten, she'll feel bad."
William sighed. "Alright."
After telling the bodyguard at the door to keep an eye on Ava, William left the ward and headed to the hospital's dining area.
Vicky opened all the lunch boxes and handed him the utensils. "William, hurry up and eat."
William held the utensils, but the food tasted like cardboard.
Vicky looked at William's slightly swollen face and asked, "William, does your face hurt? Want me to get a doctor?"
William shook his head. "No, I'll be fine."
Vicky sighed. "I didn't see this coming. Do you think Dad will do something to Mia?"
William replied, "I don't know. They seem to know each other. Dad looks at her differently."
"Really? How so?" Vicky asked, surprised.
William thought for a moment. "I can't quite put my finger on it."
That look was full of possessiveness.
Vicky said softly, "Alright, William, you should eat."
She felt a bit sorry for William; the woman he deeply loved was his cousin.
"I almost killed Ava." William's grip on the utensils trembled. "If I had let the doctor terminate the pregnancy, she would have been fine. But I wanted to save the baby and almost killed her."
Even though it turned out William made the right call, he was still shaken by the decision. Just a little more, and Ava would have been gone.
Vicky reassured him, "William, I know you're tormented, but it's not your fault. You promised Ava you'll make sure the baby's alive. Mia doesn't know the truth, so she blames you. But I know you were thinking of Ava and keeping your promise to her."
When Vicky found out about this, she was truly moved. William really loved Ava deeply.
If he didn't love her so much, he would have chosen to terminate the pregnancy to save the woman he loved. But because he loved her so much, he kept his promise.
If it were Alexander, it might have been different.
Not all love could make people so selfless.
William looked up, a tired smile finally appearing on his face. "Vicky, thank you."
Vicky thought about William and Ava's relationship and suddenly felt a bit worried.
Vicky asked, "William, You still haven't recovered any memories?"
William responded, "No."
Vicky continued, "Are you planning to live with Ava like this for the rest of your life? As husband and wife?"
Vicky didn't know how to tell William that he and Ava were cousins.
Ava was their uncle's child.
Hearing Vicky's question, William's brow furrowed. "Why are you saying this? Ava and I are husband and wife, aren't we?"
"If one day, you find out that you two..."
"Vicky." William interrupted her, "Ava and I are husband and wife. She promised me she wouldn't divorce me. We will never be apart, no matter what happens. We won't divorce. I don't know what you're trying to say, and I don't want to hear it. Can we stop here?"
He felt that Vicky was about to say something he didn't want to hear.
He was very uneasy.
As Vicky saw William's expression, her heart sank. She nodded, saying, "I understand. I won't say anymore."
It seemed that William was hopelessly in love.
She even felt that even if William knew he and Ava were cousins, he might not give her up. The situation would be even worse then.
