Chapter 764 He Will Go Crazy

Mia stepped out of the bathroom after her shower and got dressed.

Dalton was lounging on the bed, grinning at her.

"Staying for breakfast?"

"Nope."

She couldn't stand being around him, let alone sharing a meal.

She'd probably puke.

Dalton didn't try to stop her.

He sat up and asked, "Mia, why did you marry George? You tied the knot with him right after we split. Was it because of me or something else?"

Mia grabbed her bag, slung it over her shoulder, and replied coldly, "Because I love him."

Her tone was a bit sarcastic.

Dalton frowned at the word "love." "I don't buy it."

"Whatever you say."

Mia turned to leave.

Dalton jumped out of bed and blocked her path.

"What now? Gonna keep me here?"

"That's not it," Dalton said. "I just wanted to ask if you want to see William."

Hearing "William" made Mia's heart ache.

Seeing her reaction, Dalton pressed on, "I know you're closer to Alexander since you watched him grow up, but William is different. He..."

"Enough," Mia cut him off. "Don't tell me William lacks motherly love; that's on you! Don't think you can manipulate me with this!"

"I admit it's my fault," Dalton sighed. "Can you just put yourself in William's shoes for a minute? You know you've been hard on him, and he's your son. Don't let your feelings for Ava get in the way of seeing him clearly. They're married now."

"How dare you! Their marriage was your scheme. You and William tricked her. She was too naive."

"They're doing well together," Dalton said. "I won't deny there was deceit in William and Ava's marriage, but William truly loves her. They're a good match. All of Ava's pain was caused by Alexander. Can't you see that?"

Mia couldn't deny it. Alexander did hurt Ava. Like his father, he only regretted it after losing her.

But he had countless chances not to mess up!

Dalton continued, "Ava is pregnant with Alexander's child, but William still loves her. Isn't that love real enough? If Ava were pregnant with William's child, would Alexander still accept her?"

"Enough!" Mia snapped, "You don't understand Alexander, so stop talking nonsense!"

"Fine. I don't know what Alexander would do, but he divorced Ava for his mistress. You can see how William treats Ava. He truly loves her. Please don't break them up. William already lacks motherly love; do you want him to lose Ava too? He'd go crazy."

Mia shoved him aside and stormed out.

Dalton didn't stop her, just watched her leave with a cold smile.

Getting William to marry Ava was the right move.

To Dalton, Ava was a useful tool to reconnect with Mia.

Mia drove to the hospital.

At the entrance, she hesitated.

She told herself she was there to see Ava, but the thought of William being there made her anxious.

Finally, Mia got out of the car and walked in.

She had to tell Ava that Alexander was missing.

No matter what Ava said to Alexander last night, he didn't hear it.

She couldn't let Ava misunderstand Alexander.
