Chapter 997 You Will Be Happy
Bishop looked at Ava and said, "Thanks for not giving up on me, for sticking by my side, and for praying for me."
He looked worn out, like he'd been through hell and back. But even then, he still had this rugged handsomeness about him.
His eyes were tired, but there was this determined spark in them.
His deep, dark eyes seemed to hold a million secrets.
Ava was caught off guard. "How did you know I prayed for you?"
"I just had a hunch." Bishop gave a soft, charming smile.
Ava smiled back.
Honestly, it wasn't that hard to figure out.
Ava said, "Anyway, I'm just glad you're awake now. I'm really sorry about what Alexander and William did to you. They thought you were a threat and were just trying to protect me. I'll make sure to cover all your medical bills and any other expenses. You don't need to worry about a thing."
Bishop added, "Those two guys seem really protective of you."
Ava nodded, "Yeah, they are. But things are a bit chaotic right now. I'm really sorry."
Bishop said, "You don't need to apologize. It's good to have people looking out for you. Unlike Christina, who only has me. If something happens to me, there's no one to protect her."
When he mentioned Christina, a deep sadness clouded his eyes again.
Ava tried to comfort him, "Christina's in a place without pain now. She's definitely in heaven. I believe she's watching over you, keeping you safe. She wouldn't want anything bad to happen to you. She wants you to be happy."
"What if I can never be happy?" Bishop said, his voice heavy with sorrow. "What if I'm always in pain and despair?"
"You won't be." Ava squeezed his hand, her voice firm. "You will be happy. Christina wants you to be happy. For her sake, you have to cherish every day, feel the morning sun, the breeze on your face, enjoy the sunset, and listen to the ocean. Bishop, you will be happy."
Bishop looked at Ava, feeling a warmth he hadn't felt in a long time.
He never thought he could be happy, but now he believed it, because Ava said so.
"Ava." He held her hand tightly. "I wanna tell you, I..."
"Ava." William's voice came from outside the door, cutting Bishop off.
Ava turned and saw William walking in. "William, you're here."
"Ava." William looked a bit anxious. "I need to talk to you."
"What is it?" Ava asked.
"Can you step outside for a moment?" William said, glancing at Bishop.
Ava got up and told Bishop, "I'll be right back."
Bishop nodded.
William led Ava out of the hospital room.
In the hallway, Ava closed the door and asked, "William, what's wrong? You don't look so good. Are you okay?"
