Chapter 1142 He Is Not at Ease

After Alexander hung up the phone, he went to the liquor cabinet, opened a bottle of whiskey, and poured himself a glass.

Just as he was about to drink it, he suddenly thought of his stomach and set the drink aside.

He had promised Ava many times that he wouldn't drink anymore, and if he did, he would feel guilty.

He walked to the window and stared blankly at the night outside.

The city was exceptionally bright, shimmering with tiny lights.

Why was Bishop at Ava's place so late?

Was he sick?

Or was it just an excuse?

And why did Bishop suddenly come to New York? What was he up to?

Given his identity, he would only bring trouble and danger to Ava.

The more Alexander thought about it, the more restless he became.

He went to the wardrobe, opened the door, and took out a coat.

Ava lay in bed, unable to sleep.

She gently held Sunny beside her, staring at his little face, silently saying in her heart, "Sunny, if Grandma wakes up safely this time, I will immediately tell Alexander that you are his child."

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

Ava frowned and immediately sat up in bed.

Who could it be so late?

The door was knocked again.

Ava quickly got out of bed and went to the door. She looked through the peephole and was a bit surprised.

Alexander was standing outside.

She immediately opened the door, "Why are you here so late?"

"Can I come in?" Alexander looked travel-worn.

"Did something happen to Grandma?" Ava asked worriedly.

"It's not about Grandma."

"Then what is it?"

"Can I come in?"

Ava stepped aside to let Alexander in.

After she closed the door, Alexander glanced around the room.

"Where's Bishop?"

Ava immediately understood why he was there.

"You're here because he's at my place, so you came over in the middle of the night. What do you want?"

"I'm worried about you. You know what kind of person he is, like a ticking time bomb. It's late, and he's staying over at your place, so I was worried and came to check on you."

Alexander had originally planned to just stand downstairs, but he couldn't resist coming up.

Ava said helplessly, "Alexander, I know what kind of person he is better than you do. You don't need to worry. You should go back now."

Alexander said with a stern face, "Is he really sick?"

Before Ava could answer, the guest room door opened, and Bishop stumbled out.

"Mr. Mitchell, I'm sorry to have caused you concern."

Alexander strode over to Bishop, looked him up and down, and saw that he indeed looked pale and sick.

"Why are you here?"

"I..."

Before Bishop could answer, Ava stepped in front of him, "What does it matter to you why he's here? This is my place. What right do you have to interfere? Please go back."

Alexander's face showed a mix of anxiety and helplessness, "Ava, I'm just worried about you. You know what kind of person he is. It's not safe for you and Sunny to be with him."

"And it's safe with you?" Ava's eyes widened, "Alexander, stop being so self-righteous, okay? I'm begging you. I don't want to argue with you. Sunny just fell asleep. Please go back."

Bishop didn't want to make things difficult for Ava, "Ava, I'm sorry. Maybe I should leave and come back when I'm better."

"Don't listen to him." Ava grabbed his arm, "You rest well. Don't worry about Alexander. I'll handle this."

She forcefully led Bishop back to the room.

"Ava, but I..."

"No buts, lie down." Ava was a bit forceful, making him lie down and covering him with a blanket.

Her hand accidentally touched his face, which was burning hot.

She was startled and immediately felt his forehead, "Are you running a fever? Why is your temperature so high? Wait here, I'll get a thermometer for you."
