Chapter 511 Havng Dinner Together
Upon hearing the successful connection on the phone, Ava let out a sigh of relief.
It turned out that he had never blocked her number. In this regard, he was quite generous.
However, the line on the other end of the phone remained silent. After a dozen seconds or so, a click signaled the call being disconnected.
Ava sighed. How should she bring Alexander to see Scarlett?
"Do you have something to do?" A cold voice sounded behind her.
Ava turned around and saw Alexander. She breathed a sigh of relief. "So, you are still in the hospital? I thought you had left."
"Why did you call me?" Alexander asked expressionlessly.
Ava nervously approached, holding the phone. "I promised Scarlett to go to dinner with her tonight, and we will go together."
"That's your promise. Why did you involve me?"
Upon hearing Alexander's indifferent tone, Ava realized that this matter had not been sanctioned by him. She had agreed to Scarlett without his notice., Aware of her own wrongdoing, she did not lose her temper with him. Instead, she said, "I understand that our bond has fractured, but all of this has nothing to do with Scarlett. When she called me today, I heard her coughing continuously, her voice noticeably weaker than before. So, could we possibly go visit her together? Let us present ourselves well before her, allowing her to feel that even though we are divorced, we are still a family."
With his hands in his pockets, Alexander said, "Are you suggesting that we act in front of her?"
Ava helplessly smiled, "Didn't we act for more than a year before? Acting a little longer is nothing. After all, she is your own grandmother. You could be dissatisfied with me, but I hope you consider her feeling in this matter."
"There's no need for consideration." Alexander's voice was very cold.
Ava frowned. "Don't you want to?"
"I'll drive you there." He took out the keys from his pocket.
When he said there was no need for consideration, he meant he agreed.
Visiting his grandmother was never something he needed to consider. It was a given duty for him.
Ava relaxed a bit. "Thank you."
"It's nothing. I am her grandson, and it's my responsibility. Do you want to take a ride?"
Ava nodded. "Sure."
Scarlett would be happier when she saw them arrive together.
"Do you want to explain to William?"
"I already told him. Do you want to tell Isabella?"
"No, I'll just send her a message." He clicked a few times on his phone, then put it in his pocket. "Let's go."
Ava followed behind Alexander, suddenly feeling that they finally had a moment of peace.
Once Scarlett was involved, no matter how fierce their quarrels were, they would calm down involuntarily.
Alexander drove towards Scarlett's residence.
Ava gripped the seatbelt, feeling heavy and nervous.
Her relationship with Alexander had reached a breaking point, marked by heated arguments and harsh words. Yet, in a surprisingly short span of time, they found themselves once again sharing the same car to visit Scarlett, forced to put on a facade of camaraderie.
The course of events often tended to spiral out of control.
Unsure of what to say, she and Alexander maintained a somber silence in the car. The atmosphere inside the car was particularly oppressive until, halfway through their journey, they passed by a flower shop. Alexander pulled over, and after a few minutes, he returned, holding a bouquet of flowers which he placed at the back of the car.
