Chapter 282: Such a Simp

William felt a jolt in his heart. "You think I was confessing?"

"Isn't it obvious? With that huge sticker and the bright 'love you' for all to see, if I were Ava Anderson, I'd have seen through you by now."

A bad premonition settled inside William. "Maybe it's not that bad. I just sent it without thinking too much."

"Didn't think too much?" Victoria challenged him. "Out of all the stickers, why pick that one? If I'm not mistaken, that sticker popped up when you typed 'love you,' but you didn't dare to send the words themselves and just sent the sticker instead."

William found himself speechless, with Victoria seeing right through him.
He cleared his throat and said, “It was just an accident. I didn't think much of it at the time. It was just a meme, I didn't think it mattered.”

“If you think it didn’t matter, then why are you asking me?” Victoria Bennett snapped.

“I...” William Bennett was unexpectedly rendered speechless by Victoria Bennett.

“What should we do now? You tell me.” William Bennett was getting anxious. He worried that his eagerness would scare Ava off, especially since she hadn’t yet gotten over the hurt caused by Alexander Mitchell. She was definitely frightened and in no position to accept anyone.

Confessing his feelings to her now wouldn’t be helping; it would be making things worse.

It was obvious that Ava wasn't the type to jump into another man’s arms just to heal from a previous heartache.

From what he knew about her, if Ava was hurt by one man, she wouldn’t easily throw herself into another relationship. The more someone pursued her, the more she would retreat.

“Are you asking me?” Victoria Bennett pointed to herself.

William Bennett nodded. “Aren’t you ready to go through hell and high water for me? So now, try to think from Ava’s perspective.”

William Bennett was usually decisive and accurate in judging people and situations, but when it came to Ava Anderson, he felt out of his element.

“Let me think.” Victoria Bennett stroked her chin. “Of course, I would have texted you immediately, asking if you loved me. If you do, we could be together. Come on, you’re William Bennett – you have money, looks, and a great body. I would say ‘yes’ in a heartbeat...”

“Victoria Bennett!” William Bennett cut her off. “I’m being serious here, focus.”

Victoria Bennett pouted. “Alright, I think you should watch for a few days. Don’t contact her during this time and see if she reaches out to you. If she does, then it means she didn’t take the meme to heart, or at least you didn’t scare her. But if you don’t contact her and she doesn't contact you, it could mean that you’re in trouble. Those three words ‘I love you’ on the meme must have scared her.”

William Bennett frowned. “Victoria Bennett, are you being serious?”

“Of course, I’m serious. You’re asking for my opinion, aren’t you? I’m a girl too. Even though I’m not like Ava Anderson, I think I’m pretty close to how she would see it.”
"But Ava hardly ever reaches out to me first. It's always me initiating contact," William Bennett said with unease. "What if she never contacts me if I don’t reach out? Even if I hadn’t sent that meme, she probably still wouldn’t have reached out to me on her own."

Victoria Bennett responded with surprise, "Bro, are you seriously that much of a simp?"

William Bennett's eyebrows knitted together in irritation. "Victoria Bennett, say that one more time!"

Victoria Bennett shivered.
