Chapter425 Am I Deserving?
Vicky took a sip of her drink, her eyes widening as she looked at Ava, silently cheering her on.
"Why so quiet?" William noticed Ava's distraction and waved his hand in front of her, asking, "What's on your mind? Is something wrong?"
Ava shook her head. "No, I just wanted to tell you something."
"What is it?" Ava, feeling nervous, held onto her dress and said, "You mentioned that we could pretend to be in a relationship."
William furrowed his brows. "Why bring that up?"
"Let's go see your father and tell him we're in a relationship. Even if you have to get married, you will marry me ," Ava said with determination.
William's face showed a hint of surprise. "Ava, do you realize what you're saying?"
"I do." Ava raised her voice. "William, I know exactly what I'm saying. Let's go see your father now."
She grabbed his hand, ready to leave.
However, William stood still, not budging an inch.
Ava, unable to move him, turned around and asked, "What's wrong? Don't you want to?"
William gently freed his hand from hers and shook his head. "I don't want to."
"Why?" Ava asked, puzzled, "But you were the one who suggested it in the first place."
"Indeed, I did, but..." William sighed, "It was a last resort. Didn't you reject it?"
"But I've changed my mind now." She changed her mind when she saw Samantha taking drugs.
"Ava, I don't want to put you in a difficult position," William said, looking concerned. "I know you're willing to make this sacrifice for me, but I don't want you to."
"I'm not sacrificing anything. We're friends, and I'm just helping you out," Ava said.
She didn't see it as a sacrifice.
"But you're marrying me to help me out. It's unfair."
"It's okay," Ava said, "It's just a fake marriage. We can get a divorce after it's is over. The important thing is to get through the current crisis. Otherwise, you'll have to marry Samantha. I saw her today, and she's taking drugs. Do you really want to marry her?"
Seeing William's calm expression, Ava was surprised. "You knew it?"
William said calmly, "I know everything. Ava, I appreciate what you're telling me now, but I don't want to sacrifice your happiness."
"I'm not sacrificing my happiness," Ava said, tightening her grip on his wrist. "Helping my good friend is also a kind of happiness for me."
"But..." William looked at her in a daze, "Am I worth it?"
"You are," Ava said, emphasizing each word as if to prove something to him. Ava added, "Every time I'm hurt or sad, you're always there for me. When I'm sick, you take care of me all night. When I encounter difficulties, you're always willing to comfort me patiently. You always consider my feelings. You even fought for me. Even though fighting is not good, you're willing to do it to protect me. As a friend, you've been very loyal to me, so now let me give back to you. You're facing difficulties now. Let me help you!"
If a friend was so good to you and dis so much for you. However, when he encountered difficulties, you turned a blind eye and walked away, then you didn't deserve to have friends.
Vicky stood aside, wiping away her tears. "Oh my, that was so moving," she was deeply touched.
William's eyes turned red. He silently stared at the woman in front of him, not saying a word for a long time.
Ava held onto his sleeve. "You've been there for me during my most painful times. Now let me be there for you."
"William, please agree." Vicky couldn't bear it anymore. She rushed forward, grabbed William's arm, and shook it hard. "This is a perfect solution. My dad can accept Ava as the Bennett family's daughter-in-law. He won't force you to marry another woman as long as you pretend to be married. It's just a fake marriage, so let's get through the current crisis."
William raised his hand and gently wiped away tears from Ava's eyes, then nodded.
