Chapter 989 It Doesn't Matter Anymore

Ava was a mess. She didn't want to say anything, let go of William's arm, and took a few steps back, feeling totally miserable.

"Ava," William said, holding her with deep concern. "Let me take you back to rest. You shouldn't stay here. Let's go back."

"I'm not leaving. I need to stay here with him," Ava said, looking over at Bishop.

Even though Alexander broke her heart, Bishop was what mattered most right now.

She thought, 'Alexander doesn't matter anymore. He can do whatever he wants with Madison. Bishop, please wake up. I'm begging you.'

Ava stood anxiously in front of the ICU's glass door, her eyes filled with worry and helplessness.

The ICU was cold and sterile, with the occasional beep from the machines breaking the silence.

She looked at Bishop lying on the hospital bed. His face was pale, and he was motionless.

Ava clenched her hands tightly, her nails digging into her flesh, but she didn't feel any pain. She was only focused on everything in front of her.

Suddenly, Bishop's body started convulsing violently, and his breathing became rapid and irregular.

The machines started blaring alarms.

Ava panicked. "Doctor, help!"

Medical staff rushed to Bishop's bedside. They were dressed in white uniforms, wearing masks and gloves, and began to treat him quickly and professionally.

The attending doctor issued commands while performing chest compressions.

The sounds from the machines became more frequent, and the indicators on the monitor kept fluctuating.

Ava's eyes were glued to the monitor, filled with anxiety and fear. She wanted to rush in but was stopped by a nearby nurse. "Please stay calm. We are doing everything we can."

The nurse pushed Ava out and quickly prepared medication with a syringe.

Time seemed to slow down, each second making Ava more anxious.

Her tears flowed silently, but she tried to control her emotions, not wanting to interfere with the medical staff's work.

She thought, 'Bishop, please don't let anything happen to you.'

Ava was trembling all over, and William held her. "Ava, he'll be okay."

In truth, William wanted Bishop to die because he saw him as a threat. But if he really died, it would be his responsibility since he shot Vincent.

The situation had become so complicated and troublesome. But he could only keep comforting Ava, holding her in his arms. "Ava, don't look. Leave everything to the doctors. They will help him."

Madison lay on the hospital bed, looking haggard and like she'd been through a lot.

Alexander sat by the bed, holding her hand. "I'm sorry, Madison. I should have taken you somewhere else, not to this hospital."

Actually, Alexander had his own motives. He wanted to bring Madison to this hospital, hoping to see Ava. Having another reason to see her was good, but he didn't expect things to turn out this way.

"It's okay, Alexander. I understand you. It's not your fault. It's my fault. I shouldn't have said those things to her. I just wanted to make you happy, so I couldn't hold back. I'm sorry," Madison said, her tearful appearance looking pitiful.

Alexander took out a tissue to wipe her tears. "Madison, don't do such things again next time."
