Chapter 1166 Considering Her
After the door closed, Ava turned and walked into the living room.
She saw Bishop already standing there, silently watching her.
Ava smiled faintly.
"Bishop, it's getting late. You should go to bed early."
"Ava, did those two give you a lot of trouble today?" Bishop asked.
Ava sighed softly, "It was a bit troublesome, but it also made me temporarily forget about Grandma. Now that they're gone, I remember again."
Seeing that Ava was about to cry, Bishop immediately stepped forward, "How about we call them back? Their bickering can be quite lively."
Ava was amused, "That's not what I meant. Don't worry, I'll manage. This will pass as long as I can find evidence that Grandma was murdered."
Her expression turned extremely somber as she said the last sentence.
Bishop said, "I'll help you investigate. I won't go anywhere until we find out."
Ava looked up, her eyes filled with tears, "Thank you for not being like them today."
"I don't want to pressure you, so I don't compete. I can tell they both like you, so they can't help but compete to win your favor."
"I don't need them to win my favor that way. I like how you are."
At least Bishop didn't pressure her today or get jealous. That was good enough.
As soon as Ava said this, she regretted it a bit. It sounded ambiguous and could easily be misunderstood.
She quickly explained, "Bishop, I mean they don't need to win my favor, and neither do you."
"Ava, don't worry about me overthinking. I just want you to feel comfortable. If you feel better with me gone, I can leave right now."
He always considered her perspective, not just his own feelings.
"Bishop, that's not what I meant. You're fine here. Stay as long as you want."
Bishop said, "Okay, I understand. If you ever feel uncomfortable, you can tell me."
Ava responded softly, "Then you should go back to your room. You're still not fully recovered. Get some rest."
"You should get some rest too."
Bishop turned and went back to his room.
Ava also returned to her room.
In the bathroom, Ava started crying again while taking a shower.
She had wanted to cry in front of Bishop, but she didn't want to cry in front of him again.
She was afraid she wouldn't be able to resist and would throw herself into his arms. That wouldn't be good; she couldn't rely on him to always comfort her.
The sound of the water drowned out her sobs and washed away her tears.
Ever since Alexander asked for a divorce, so many things had happened. Nothing had gone right since then.
Now, Scarlett was dead, and she had been murdered.
The person who killed Scarlett was still being protected by Alexander.
All these chaotic things made it hard for Ava to breathe.
Suddenly, she clutched her chest, feeling a sharp pain. Her body grew weaker, and she collapsed to the ground with a thud.
At that moment, Sunny suddenly started crying.
Hearing the crying, Ava tried to get up from the floor, but her chest hurt more and more. Her whole body felt weak, and her head throbbed.
"Sunny, I'm coming. Mommy's coming." Ava struggled to crawl forward, but it felt like all her strength had been drained. Her vision went black, and she passed out.
Bishop heard Sunny's crying from the next room. He immediately went to Ava's room and gently knocked on the door.
"Ava, is Sunny okay?"
But there was no response from Ava.
