Chapter 614 Getting Along Well

From a distance, Ava sighed in relief. She approached slowly and said, "Sorry, a friend called me. We haven't spoken in ages, so we talked for a while. I see you two are having a good time chatting."

William said, "Yes, Ms. Fairfax is very witty. Talking to her makes me feel much more relaxed."

Ava sat down next to William, noting his cheerful demeanor. She thought it was indeed wise to let Elinor and William spend some time alone today. She pondered, 'Sure enough, he is different when he is with the woman he likes. He seems very relaxed around Elinor.'

She felt they were quite a good match.

Throughout the meal, Ava frequently excused herself, either to the restroom or to step out for a bit. For the most part, it was just William and Elinor alone.

Consequently, the dinner lasted a long time.

After dinner, Ava showed no intention of seeing Elinor off. Instead, she kept chatting with her.

Ava occasionally introduced new topics, but she stayed quiet and didn't interrupt, just observing.

William appeared genuinely enjoy his time with Elinor, whether out of sincerity or respect Ava's feelings. They talked for a long time.

Ava felt very gratified. Looking at Elinor, she suddenly felt that Elinor didn't seem like someone who would outright reject William.

She wondered if Elinor also developed an appreciation for William. Was there some misunderstanding between them?

Unknowingly, it had grown very late. Elinor suddenly realized how long she had been talking to William, with Ava present all along.

This situation was deliberately present all alongby Ava, which seemed rather absurd upon reflection.

Elinor glanced at the clock. "It's getting late. I should go."

"You're leaving already?" Ava didn't want her to leave. She felt William was thoroughly enjoying chatting with Elinor.

"Yes, it's quite late. I should head back."

"Yes." Ava looked at the clock. "It was very late. I'm sorry for keeping you so long."

"It's okay. I enjoyed myself here."

Ava smiled and was suddenly struck by an idea. "How about this? Why don't you stay here tonight? I'll have someone take you back in the morning."

"That seems a bit improper. I should go back."

Ava said, "It's fine. We have a spare room, and all the daily necessities are new. If you need anything, I'll have someone get it for you. Just stay here tonight. It's very late, and it will be deep into the night by the time you get back."

Elinor was about to decline when William stood up. "Ms. Fairfax, why don't you take Ava's suggestion and stay?"

"Well..." Elinor was still hesitant, but Ava had already approached and warmly took her arm. "Let me show you the room."

After a moment's thought, Elinor finally followed Ava. She glanced back at William, who gave her a reassuring look.

Ava led Elinor to a spacious guest room.

"Ms. Fairfax, you can stay here tonight. Everything is clean and ready for you."

She went to the walk-in closet and brought out some underwear and pajamas for Elinor. "These are all new and clean. You can use them. The housekeeper will launder your clothes, and you'll get them back in the morning."

"Thank you," Elinor said, taking the pajamas politely.

"You're welcome. I should be thanking you." Ava glanced outside the door to ensure privacy, then said, "I feel you and William get along very well. You seem to have a great connection."
