Chapter 488 What did You Call Me
She tried hard to tell herself not to get too excited. William had just woken up. If she got too emotional, it would affect him. However, no matter how much she restrained herself, tears kept falling.
She was overjoyed. A miracle had occurred. Fortunately, she had persisted and clung to that faint glimmer of hope.
"Ava, as long as you are safe. I had a long dream. I dreamt someone was out to harm you. I tried desperately to warn you, yet I couldn't wake up. I clung on the edge of hell, someone trying to pull me down, but I refused to descend. I fought with all my might to climb back up because I heard you calling my name."
Even though William had woken up, he looked panicked when he mentioned these things.
Ava felt extremely heartbroken. She couldn't imagine how much William had suffered while unconscious.
Perhaps, as Vicky said, unconscious people could hear what others were saying outside but couldn't respond. This made his suffering even worse.
"William, I'm fine. I'm perfectly fine. There's nothing wrong with me. You don't need to worry about me."
Ava raised her hand and gently stroked his face. "You will be fine, too. I will be by your side."
William looked at her tenderly. "You are my wife. I should be the one protecting you."
Vicky walked in. "Brother."
She knew William probably wanted to be alone with Ava, but she couldn't help it and walked in tearfully, looking at him.
Perplexed, William glanced at Vicky. "What did you call me?"
Hearing William's words, Vicky looked puzzled. "Of course, I called you brother. Or else, should I call you Dad?"
William stared at Vicky blankly and asked, "Are you my sister?"
Feeling uneasy at William's question, Ava said, "William, she is Vicky, your sister. Don't you remember her?"
William's eyes were filled with unfamiliarity. When he looked at Vicky, it was as if he was looking at a stranger.
At this moment, several people walked in.
William looked at them. All of them seemed like strangers to him. He seemed a bit scared, holding onto Ava's hand tightly, and asked, "Ava, they said earlier that they are all my family. Is that true?"
William's gaze upon Ava clearly conveyed that he now solely believed in her words.
Ava became a bit anxious. "William, don't you remember them? They are your parents and your uncle, and this is your sister, Vicky."
Furrowing his brows, William suddenly felt a headache. He shook his head. "I don't remember; I feel a bit unwell."
Brandon said, "Ava, can you come out for a moment? I need to talk to you."
Ava turned to Brandon, nodded, and then said to William. "William, I'll be right back. Wait for me."
"Then hurry, I'll wait for you." His eyes were filled with unease, like a lost child.
Fearing to startle him, Ava delicately released William's hand and withdrew her hand slowly.
Then she stood up, tucked him in with the blanket, and left the ward.
Outside the ward.
Ava hurriedly asked, "What's going on?"
It appeared that they all knew what had happened, except for her and Vicky, perhaps due to their late arrival.
