Chapter 317 Alexander Got Scared

Mia interrupted Alexander, grabbing his sleeve and shaking it vigorously. She pleaded, "Ask him when he's available; tell him you can wait."

Mia cleared her throat and extinguished the cigarette in her hand before asking, "Then when are you available? You can't be busy all the time, right?"

"I am always busy; no free time," he heartlessly refused, causing Mia to furrow her brows slightly. She felt a pang of pain, sensing that Alexander didn't want to have a meal with her or see her.

Before Ava could say anything, Mia wanted to try harder and asked, "Are you really that busy? You can't spare half an hour?"

"Sorry, I am busy," he replied.

Mia tightly gripped her phone and forced a smile, "Alright then, go on with your busy life. I won't disturb you."

Just as Mia was about to hang up the phone, Ava snatched it from her, speaking to the person on the other end, "Alexander."

Hearing the familiar voice calling his name, Alexander felt somewhat surprised, "Ava, is it you?"

"Yes, it's me," Ava said, "I'm with your mother."

"Why are you there?"

"Don't worry about why I'm here. Your mother wants to have a meal with you. Why did you refuse?"

"I don't have time."

"Nonsense!" Ava solemnly said, "Don't tell me you don't have time. You have time to visit Isabella, time to get angry, time to drag me back home in the middle of the night, but no time to have a meal with your mother. Who would believe that?"

Mia stared at Ava in astonishment, her eyes filled with disbelief. She never expected Ava to have this side to her.

When Ava scolded Alexander, it was like scolding a child.

Alexander seemed to also be taken aback by Ava's words. He remained silent for a while.

As a CEO, he was used to reprimanding others, but this time, he was being scolded by his ex-wife, and he didn't even dare to argue back.

"Why aren't you saying anything?" Ava furrowed her brows. "Speak."

"Do you want me to have a meal with her that badly?" Alexander asked.

"Don't you want to?"

"I don't want to," Alexander coldly stated.

"Alexander, please stop being stubborn. What are you thinking? Don't you know it yourself?" Ava angrily said, "I heard you crying in your sleep that night, saying you wanted to find your mother. Don't tell me you don't remember."

"Who cried and wanted to find their mother? Are you making things up?" Alexander's voice clearly sounded unnatural.

"Am I making things up, or are you lying? Do you feel no guilt at all?"

"Ava, I..."

"Alexander, I'm giving you two choices. Either you have a meal with your mom and have a good talk, no arguing allowed, or we pretend not to know each other anymore and never contact each other again. After all, if you can ignore your own mother, why would you care about me, your ex-wife?"

"Ava, it's not the same, I just..."

"Just what?" Ava interrupted him, "I gave you the options; now you choose."

Ava's voice was particularly domineering, like an irresistible queen.

Alexander was frightened by Ava's domineering speech.

"I..." Alexander was scared. "I choose the first one."
